❗️Five members of one family killed in Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon
An overnight Israeli airstrike on the town of Jebchit in southern Lebanon has killed five members of the same family, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA). The strike, which targeted the Al-Jabal neighborhood, completely destroyed a residential building belonging to the Bahja family.
The victims have been identified as Mohammed Jawad Bahja and his wife, Lotfiya, along with Amani Jaber and her two children, Mariam Hilal Bahja and Ali al-Rida Hilal Bahja. Emergency responders and civil defense teams worked through the night to clear the wreckage and recover the bodies from beneath the debris.
The attack on Jebchit is part of a broader escalation of Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon that occurred late Tuesday and early Wednesday, despite a so-called ceasefire agreement that was recently extended. Local health authorities report that at least eight people were killed across various southern towns on Tuesday alone, as drone and artillery strikes continue to target residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the Nabatieh and Tyre districts.
