The local planning commission and town board in Saline Township, Michigan voted to reject a $16 billion, 21-million-square-foot AI data center proposed by OpenAI and Oracle. Some time later, the developer SUED the town, which ultimately settled due to crippling legal costs.
You read that right. Even when the town's own citizens voted no to a billion dollar AI data center project that would end up devestating the ecosystem around, they still lost because they could not afford a legal battle against the developers. This proves that the technological-system is only obedient to technical necessity, not human values or will. It is humans that have to adapt to fit the needs of the system, the system does not exist to satisfy the needs of humans.

"More importantly, the replacement of humans by machines in the military is proceeding apace. At the moment human soldiers and policemen are still necessary, but, given the accelerating rate of technological development, it is all too possible that within a couple of decades police and military forces may consist largely of robots. These presumably will be immune to subversion and will have no inhibitions about shooting down protesters."

Orbital Chessboard: Starlink Sits On The Throne, But The Sky Is Getting Crowded And Angry
While Washington built a private empire of ten thousand blinking dots and Moscow only started pushing its first commercial birds skyward this spring, another kind of race quietly went hot above our heads. Whoever owns the low orbit owns the next war - the radios, the drones, the reconnaissance, the eyes and the ears of every brigade on the ground. And by the summer of 2026, the map of that race no longer has one player on it. It has six. Some are catching up. Some are just jamming from above and pretending they aren't there.
The Monopoly That Refuses to Age
By late June 2026, independent astronomer Jonathan McDowell counted 10,705 Starlink satellites in orbit, 10,689 of them working, out of 12,366 launched since 2019 - a scale that alone accounts for roughly two-thirds of everything humanity keeps active in space right now.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has already blessed a further 7,500 Gen-2 birds under order DA-26-36 (January 2026), pushing SpaceX's authorized cap to 15,000 with an eventual ambition of 42,000. SpaceX ran 74 Falcon 9 missions in the first half of 2026, 59 of them dedicated to Starlink - a dedicated mission every three or four days.
And under it all, quietly humming, sits Starshield - the Pentagon-integrated military variant with hardened crypto and priority steering. Starlink over Crimea has already been switched on and off on Elon Musk's word, a matter of public record, not conspiracy. That single fact is why every other capital on Earth has stopped debating the question and started launching.
Amazon Tries to Grow Up
Jeff Bezos's Project Kuiper - recently rebranded Amazon Leo - has 331 satellites in orbit as of early June 2026 and another 36 lined up for launch. Impressive in absolute terms. Catastrophic against the FCC's original deadline: 1,616 birds by July 30, 2026. Amazon isn't going to hit it. Not even close.

‘You’re playing with fire,’ RT editor-in-chief warns Europe
— RT, July 8, 2023 (FULL INTERVIEW)
Russian society is nearing the limit of its patience as Kiev’s Western backers assist Ukrainian strikes deep into the country, Margarita Simonyan has said
Europe is “playing with fire” as it assists Ukraine in strikes deep into Russia, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan has said, warning Kiev’s Western backers that Moscow may have no other choice other than to respond with force.
In a lengthy interview with Die Weltwoche's Roger Koeppel on Wednesday, Simonyan said, “it is not Ukraine that is bringing the war to Moscow” but rather Europe, as Kiev is incapable of conducting attacks without foreign aid and intelligence.
Simonyan warned that Moscow’s patience is running thin as drones, missiles, flight disruptions, and fuel shortages increasingly affect civilians in Russia.
At one point during the interview Margarita Simonyan bursts out:

“People are afraid to sleep at night… Where is the limit of this hardship, when the people will say, ‘Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], we have to respond! I don’t know, but I think it is very close. Very close. Right now, you are playing with fire.”
At one point during the interview Margarita Simonyan bursts out:
"Sometimes it seems to me that you people in Europe have really all gone a little crazy. Please tell me, during these five years, has a single Russian missile hit Europe?
Has a single Russian tank been sent anywhere into Europe?
Has a single Russian combat aircraft flown anywhere into Europe?
(No, no, no.)
And how many European missiles, tanks, and aircraft have been sent into, and hit, Russia in all this time? Thousands.
And after that, you're asking me about Russia's responsibility? Russia has not laid a finger on Europe. It is Europe that is sending its tanks, aircraft, missiles and drones into Russia, causing a transportation crisis, a gasoline crisis in Russia, and so on..."

More pertinent now as the US continues bombing Iran during the funeral for Iran's Supreme Leader, murdered by the US.
The US war on Iran is continuous, the aggression from 2024-2026 is simply a matter of escalation - setting a precedent for striking Iran whenever the US wants.
Until Iran can deter this wanton aggression, Iran is surviving, not "winning."
The US used a similar process over years to topple Iraq and Syria.

🇵🇸 Return to Al-Wihda Tower | The Electronic Intifada
Before the #genocide, Al-Wihda Tower was one of the tallest residential buildings in the area. Our apartment on the western side had a view of the coastline.
Upon our return, the tower was barely recognizable.
Parts of its exterior had been torn away by Israeli airstrikes, leaving exposed concrete, shattered windows and blackened walls. Rubble still surrounded the entrance.
We had finally reached our home, marking the seeming end of our yearslong displacement, yet, as it turned out, the hardships would only continue.

❗️UN inquiry calls for release of Dr. Abu Safia, raises concerns over abuse
A UN inquiry on Wednesday raised concerns over reports of mistreatment of a prominent Palestinian doctor who was detained by the Israeli military in Gaza in December 2024 and remains in Israeli custody, calling for his release.
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, demanded the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Rights organizations and Abu Safiya’s lawyer have warned that his life is at immediate risk, while the Israeli rights group Physicians for Human Rights Israel said he remains detained without charge.
"The actions of the Israeli Prison Service guards towards Palestinian detainees raise grave concerns of violations of international law that likely amount to international crimes. Dr. Abu Safiya’s medical condition is the direct result of these actions," the UN inquiry said in a statement.
