US approves possible $24 bln sale of F-35 fighters to Saudi Arabia

The #US has approved a possible sale of 48 F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters to Saudi Arabia, marking #Riyadh’s first planned acquisition of the fifth-generation aircraft.

The package is valued at up to $24.3 billion and includes 49 Pratt & Whitney F135 engines, weapons, training, maintenance support and related equipment.

The proposed sale is now subject to the US Foreign Military Sales process and congressional review.
