To the perverse Hindoo mind, being a rape victim is a major loss of izzat.
You might think I'm joking, but it's the mindset from the ancient world; "Heroes" in ancient epics - think like Gilgamesh - were often rapists. These ancient cultures saw the "heroic" as the imposition of the will upon nature/others/deities/entropy itself.
This extends to the Indian religion. I don't think Westerners, in their naive egalitarianism, quite understand how many Indian deities have rape narratives as fundamental to their character.
Indra rapes Ahalya and Rambha.
Vishnu rapes Vrindra.
Soma rapes Tara.
Brihaspati rapes his pregnant sister-in-law, Mamata.
Surya rapes Kunti and Sanjana.
Varuna rapes Bhadra.
Shiva tries to rape the daughter of Agniveshya.
Vayu rapes Anjani.
Sexual violence is justified, endorsed, some might even say codified within the Indian religion. Which is to say, the rapist is revered for their "strength" (indeed, Hindus worship a pantheon of "divine" rapists), while the defining characteristic of the victim is their weakness; their inability to resist the rapist.
Vivek likes to talk about how anybody can be an American, and how anyone can just assimilate and lay claim to the identity and inheritance that a certain, particular people left for their posterity - but this, ipso facto, pulls back the curtain on the lie.
Certain cultures are better than others, and I prefer mine to not revere the rapist while denigrating genuine victims

๐ฎ๐ณ๐ Indian information security company and certificate authority (CA), eMudhra, suffered a major security breach on October 17th, leading to the leak of 8 private keys to 8 intermediate CAs trusted by the Mozilla, Google and Microsoft root programs and downstream websites.
An attacker with the private key of any of the compromised intermediate CAs could impersonate any website or service.
This has already been remediated by Mozilla, Microsoft, Apple, and Chrome for their users through their tools for distributing revocation information such as OneCRL, CRLite and CRLSets but many other sites, apps and devices will need to go manually install the patches or risk being hacked or infected with malware. Tech experts say this breach could be bigger than the 2014 Heartbleed security disaster.
The breach wasn't made public until October 19th.
While looking for the source of the breach it was revealed that eMudhra's cryptographic keys were so weak, the hackers didn't make much of an effort to crack them. While a normal cryptographic key can have as many as 120 digits, eMudhra's cryptgraphic keys had somewhere between 1-3 digits.
Anyone with those keys could have forged trusted certificates for virtually any website, potentially fooling your browser if they intercepted your connection and gotten hold of any information stored like passwords, credit card info or location but its unlikely as Google, Mozilla, Microsoft and Apple patched the breach before it was made public.
There have been no verified reports of malicious use forged intermediate CAs linked to this security breach so far.

๐ Government websites go dark as software flaw sparks security scramble
Government websites in Europe and elsewhere went offline on Wednesday after the disclosure of critical vulnerabilities in a widely used programming language sent โwebsite operators scrambling to protect their systems.
Developers of the PHP programming language said Tuesday they had identified two critical vulnerabilities and urged users to update their sites as soon as a fix was released. They said around 1345 GMT on Wednesday that a new version fixing the vulnerabilities was live.
But with reports that hackers were exploiting the flaws to break into websites, government agencies in the Netherlands and Finland were among those that took sites offline ahead of โthe fix as a precaution.
PHP underpins large parts of the internet, raising concerns that a significant number of websites could be vulnerable to attack.
"PHP is everywhere. It quietly powers WordPress, โDrupal, Joomla, and Magento sites, shared hosting platforms, control panels, and an awful lot of software that doesn't even advertise that it runs PHP under โ the hood," cybersecurity company Huntress said in a blog post.
Dane Knecht, the chief technology officer of Web and cloud security firm Cloudflare said that attacks were emerging and Cloudflare was updating its โfirewall rules as a stopgap measure.
"We are seeing early attacks emerging and are updating mitigations as new vectors show up. This is a STOPGAP only. Patch as soon as PHP releases the update," he โsaid on X.
Wordfence, a security plugin that protects WordPress websites, said all WordPress sites run on a PHP-installed server. It warned that automatic updates would not apply the fix and advised site owners to find out who is responsible for updating PHP on their sites.
Cybersecurity agencies in Europe, Australia, Japan and Britain have urged PHP users to update immediately or take websites offline until patches can be applied. The Dutch cybersecurity agency itself went offline, saying โit had done so as a precaution because of the vulnerabilities.
Officials have said that all PHP versions from PHP 5 onward could be affected, although PHP has not yet disclosed which versions are โvulnerable.

๐ฑ Apple devices looted during riots in France turned into digital "bricks"
During recent retail lootings in France, several Apple Stores were targeted. However, the looters' joy over their stolen phones was short-lived. Upon powering on, the devices locked down immediately, greeting the perpetrators with the following on-screen warning:
What does this mean in practice?
๐ดImmediate lockdown: Display units are connected to a dedicated Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. The moment they leave the storeโs network perimeter, the central server disables them instantly-rendering menus and apps completely inaccessible.
๐ก Continuous tracking: Using GPS and background Find My network capabilities, the devices broadcast their coordinates as soon as they connect to the internet or ping against the Bluetooth signal of any nearby iPhone.
๐ Impossible to reset: Unique identifiers (IMEI and serial numbers) are blacklisted. Even a full factory reset cannot bypass the lock, and the devices are blocked from connecting to cellular carrier networks.
๐ธ Worthless on the black market (except for select parts): They cannot be sold or used as functioning smartphones. Thieves can at most scrap them for spare hardware parts (display, camera module, casing). However, in recent hardware generations, Apple software-pairs major components directly to the logic board-meaning transplanted parts now trigger system warnings as well.

Please return to Apple Lille. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.

President Trump will pick who gets the money
๐บ๐ธ ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ Reporter Notes Trumpโs Fraud Rewards Lag Existing False Claims Act
:.
Following the October 20, the Oval Office announcement of the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program ("with rewards of 1% of recovered funds or up to $30,000, administered by the Justice Department and with the president as final arbitrator"), a reporter pointed out that the longstanding False Claims Act already provides substantially higher shares for whistleblowers.
Under the 1863 law, "individuals who file qui tam suits on the governmentโs behalf against those defrauding federal programs typically receive 15โ25% of recoveries if the government intervenes and 25โ30% if they proceed independently (with limited cases as low as 10%)."
Vice President Vance responded that "over 99% of the fraud identified by the administrationโs task force falls outside the Actโs coverage, though the new programโs lower percentages and personal arbitration have drawn scrutiny relative to the established statutory framework."
