Contrarily, if the things a person likes are upgraded, his enjoyment will increase. A person who doesn't endeavor to gain better likings is deprived of having more enjoyment.

An aspiration should be unreachable for it to attract an ambitious person, but it should also be reachable so that a person won’t feel hopeless. Getting close to God is the only aspiration, which is both lofty and reachable. Other aspirations are not lofty or achievable. The more your heart is given over to other aspirations, the more you move away from them.

Congratulations on the anniversary of the birth of the Promised Imam, Hazrat Mahdi (‘a.j.), to all those who love and await him!
The night of the 14th of the month of Shabaan is one of the most important nights with many blessings. It is one of the four nights in which the traditions have recommend keeping a vigil and staying awake until dawn. The blessed birth of Imam Mahdi (‘a.j.) took place at the dawn of this night.
Someone asked Imam Baqir (‘a) about the merits of the night of the 14th of Shabaan. Imam Baqir (‘a) responded, “This night is the best night after the Night of Power (Qadr)... So try to get close to God in this night. Indeed this night is the night in which God has promised that He won’t turn back any supplicant from Himself…”
Some of the recommended acts listed in the Mafatih al-Janan prayer book for this night, include:
1. Staying awake during the night with prayers and supplications.
The Prophet (s) said, “If a person keeps a vigil this night, his heart won’t die on the day when the hearts die.”
Hazrat Ali (‘a) narrated from the Prophet of God (s), “Whenever the night of the middle of the month of Shabaan arrives, stay awake during the night and fast during the day. God calls from sunset until dawn during this night, ‘Isn’t there any seeker of forgiveness whom I may forgive?! Isn’t there any seeker of sustenance to whom I may give sustenance?!’”
2. Reciting the Kumayl Prayer
3. Reciting the Shabaniah Salutation
4. Making a pilgrimage to Imam Husayn’s (‘a) shrine
Whenever the first day of Shabaan arrives a harbinger calls from the divine throne, “O pilgrims of Husayn (‘a), do not overlook the pilgrimage to Imam Husayn (‘a) during the night of the middle of the month of Shabaan. If you knew what is concealed within it, you would await its arrival the whole year.”
5. Reciting the four invocations
Imam Baqir (‘a) said, “Whoever says one hundred times ‘Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah)’, one hundred times ‘Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah)’, one hundred times ‘Allahu Akbar (He is the Greatest)’, and one hundred times ‘La Ilaha Illallah (There is no god but Allah)’ during this night, God will forgive his past sins and grant his needs in this world and the Hereafter. Whether he has asked for these needs from God or not, God knows them. This is from God’s Grace to His servants.”
6. Reciting the supplication, which has been recommended for this night.

The supplication for the night of the 14th of Shabaan
اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَیْلَتِنَا هَذِهِ وَ مَوْلُودِهَا وَ حُجَّتِکَ وَ مَوْعُودِهَا
O Allah, for the sake of this night which we are now in, for the sake of he who was born tonight, Your decisive argument, Your “promise.”
الَّتِی قَرَنْتَ إِلَى فَضْلِهَا فَضْلًا فَتَمَّتْ کَلِمَتُکَ صِدْقاً وَ عَدْلًا لَا مُبَدِّلَ لِکَلِمَاتِکَ وَ لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِآیَاتِکَ
You have joined another favour to the blessings of this night. So, You have fulfilled Your words truly and justly. No one can change Your words, nor obscure Your signs.
نُورُکَ الْمُتَأَلِّقُ وَ ضِیَاؤُکَ الْمُشْرِقُ وَ الْعَلَمُ النُّورُ فِی طَخْیَاءِ الدَّیْجُورِ الْغَائِبُ الْمَسْتُورُ جَلَّ مَوْلِدُهُ وَ کَرُمَ مَحْتِدُهُ وَ الْمَلَائِکَةُ شُهَّدُهُ [شهدائه‏]
He is Your shining light. He is Your burning luminosity and that glowing sign in a dark and dusky night. He is that hidden one, who can’t be seen. His birth was greatness and benevolence. The angels stood witness.
وَ اللَّهُ نَاصِرُهُ وَ مُؤَیِّدُهُ إِذَا آنَ مِیعَادُهُ وَ الْمَلَائِکَةُ أَمْدَادُهُ
Allah is his helper and supporter when the promise (the event of the beginning of his reign) comes true. The angels will be among his troops.
سَیْفُ اللَّهِ الَّذِی لَا یَنْبُو وَ نُورُهُ الَّذِی لَا یَخْبُو وَ ذُو الْحِلْمِ الَّذِی لَا یَصْبُو
He is Allah’s cutting sword, which never becomes dull. He is His light, which never goes out. He is the patient one who never does anything, which is nonessential.
مَدَارُ الدَّهْرِ وَ نَوَامِیسُ الْعَصْرِ وَ وُلَاةُ الْأَمْرِ وَ الْمُنَزَّلُ عَلَیْهِمُ‏ الذِّکْرُ وَ مَا یَنْزِلُ فِی لَیْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ
Events continue on their course because of him. He (and his Innocent forefathers) are the honour of every era, and they are in charge of Allah’s affairs in every time. That which descends on the Night of Power descends on him.
وَ أَصْحَابُ الْحَشْرِ وَ النَّشْرِ تَرَاجِمَةُ وَحْیِهِ وَ وُلَاةُ أَمْرِهِ وَ نَهْیِهِ اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى خَاتِمِهِمْ وَ قَائِمِهِمْ الْمَسْتُورِ عَنْ عَوَامِلِهِمْ [عوالمهم‏]
They are in charge of the Day of Judgment and the Resurrection, the interpreters of Allah’s Revelation, and those who make known what He has ordered and forbidden. O Allah, send blessings on their seal and the upstanding one who is hidden from the people.
وَ أَدْرِکْ بِنَا أَیَّامَهُ وَ ظُهُورَهُ وَ قِیَامَهُ وَ اجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَنْصَارِهِ وَ اقْرِنْ ثَارَنَا بِثَارِهِ
Let us witness his time, his return, and his uprising. Let us be among his helpers. Let us accompany his revenge.
وَ اکْتُبْنَا فِی أَعْوَانِهِ وَ خُلَصَائِهِ وَ أَحْیِنَا فِی دَوْلَتِهِ نَاعِمِینَ وَ بِصُحْبَتِهِ غَانِمِینَ
Register our names among his supporters and sincere friends. Bring us to life again with his bounteous reign, and let us benefit from his company.
وَ بِحَقِّهِ قَائِمِینَ وَ مِنَ السُّوءِ سَالِمِینَ یَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِینَ
Make us steadfast in his cause, and free from sins, O the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate!
‏ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِینَ‏ وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِیِّینَ وَ الْمُرْسَلِینَ
All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds! May His blessings be on our master, Muhammad, the Last Prophet and Messenger,
وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَیْتِهِ الصَّادِقِینَ وَ عِتْرَتِهِ النَّاطِقِینَ
And on his honest Household and truthful descendants.
وَ الْعَنْ جَمِیعَ الظَّالِمِینَ وَ احْکُمْ بَیْنَنَا وَ بَیْنَهُمْ یَا أَحْکَمَ الْحَاکِمِینَ.
And May You condemn all the oppressors, and judge between us, O the Strongest Ruler.

The peak of a person’s perfection is for him to surrender to God totally. Some people think that such a status is being passive, not using our abilities, and eliminating a person’s independence. However, we should use all our abilities and independence to remove the obstacles to reach this peak. Then we won’t become the captive of others and we can reach to absolute power.

In many cases, people’s inner reality is different from their appearance. Most of the time people don't even know themselves. Some people have a bad appearance, but inside they are good. And, some people are the opposite. The most important criterion for distinguishing our internal purity is strength. The more that strength increases the wisdom of a person and decreases him obeying his carnal desires, the more inner purity he has.

If a person releases himself from selfish and inferior interests, he will remove his burdens and have wings to fly. Whenever you see that you haven’t lightened your burdens, look for your bad, misplaced interests. One can find them very quickly. Try to look at them with hatred. They will become weak and your inner purity will be reinforced.

Liking is an event. If it doesn't happen, life will be cold. If it does happen, it will gradually burn everything. Liking doesn't have a middle point. If you don't like anyone, you will not be happy. 📕 Many people think prayer is like a “Tom & Jerry” cartoon!

📌 From the beginning, sometimes it isn’t nice to be in pursuit of enjoying praying.
📌 In the first stage, prayer is not being in love with God!

💠 In the first stage, prayer is not being in love with God. In the beginning, prayer is enduring hardship in order to attain spiritual enjoyment. The Almighty God knew that in the beginning of the way, we are not in love with Him and we don’t know Him. The Almighty God knew that after forty years of worshiping, we will gradually be able to taste the sweetness of talking to Him. That is why He has given us such a command. Nonetheless, we think our prayer is good only if we enjoy it!

💠 From the very beginning when we start to pray, sometimes it isn’t nice if we are in pursuit of tasting the sweetness of prayer and enjoying it. Sometimes, it is not right to ask, “What should I do to enjoy praying?”

💠 Sometimes a person is not after praying. He is in pursuit of enjoying something and his own desires. He wants to taste the sweetness of prayer, because he wants his whole life to be full of sweetness. He thinks that prayer is like a “Tom & Jerry” cartoon. When he goes to it, he will become magically drowned in it and enjoy it! Sometimes, a person thinks that praying is like watching a movie. If God had wanted, He could have made prayer sweet and enjoyable for everyone so that everyone would be attracted to prayer. Actually, God makes a person disgruntled with prayer. Of course, God is wise in doing this, like all of His other actions. What is the wisdom behind this?

Life may be summarized in having needs and trying to meet needs, becoming fond of different things and trying to reach these interests. These are needs and interests, which sometimes remain unfulfilled. Life becomes hard when a person becomes intensely fond of his needs or when he considers his interests to be his needs. God likes us to live comfortably.

With any good intention that you fight with your own desires, you will see that you can find another desire among your good intentions. A person’s desires grow like weeds on the farm of his heart. The more you irrigate this farm with spirituality, the more the weeds will be irrigated too. However, the solution is not that you should allow your heart to dry. Rather, you must constantly cut the weeds.
