The difference in seeking this world from seeking the hereafter is that you see the world first, and then you become fond of it. However, you should become fond of the Hereafter first, and see it later. Nevertheless, how can we become fond of the Hereafter when we haven’t seen it? The main way to do this is through thinking. The other way to do this is to eliminate fondness for this temporary and worthless world, and to do our deeds for the Hereafter.

Our need for the Imam (‘a) is our most important need in our relationships with human beings. This need cannot be filled with a different kindness or relationship. If you give the place for the Imam (‘a) in your heart to someone else, you have usurped his place in your heart and you will never have enough or complete pleasure in your life.

God loves us and is not indifferent about us. Therefore, He never puts us through a test, which we cannot handle. He does not put us in a situation where we sin and are unable to repent. Being hopeless about such a God is truly a Major Sin. Having hope, trusting in God’s Kindness, and remembering it cause us to flourish.

📌 Some Traditions about the Prayer Rituals
💠 A servant being polite in front of the God of the universe is one of the issues that the Household of the Prophet (‘a) paid attention to very much. They have given much advice about how to be polite while praying and even mentioned the details.
💠 For example, Imam Reza (‘a) said, “If you want to pray, don’t get up lethargically for praying. Don’t pray while dozing off. Don’t pray hastily. Instead, pray with calm and serenity… when you want to stand up in front of your God while praying, stand up in front of God like a sinful servant whom his master wants to punish. (This is being polite in prayer. Even if you haven’t sinned!) Place your feet straight and firm. Control your own will. Don’t look this way and that way. Don’t play with your beard or other parts of your body. Don’t crack your knuckles. Don’t scratch yourself. Don’t touch or fidget with your nose and clothes. When you are standing in prayer, always look at the place where you prostrate. Pray with eagerness, fear and enthusiasm.” (Fiqh al-Reza, p. 101)
💠 In another similar tradition, Imam Muhammad Baqir (‘a) said, “When you stand up to pray… don’t fidget with your hands, head and beard… Don’t yawn. Don’t try to remove your fatigue by stretching your hands. Don’t lean on this foot or that foot. Stand on both your feet. Don’t stick your legs together, and don’t separate them very much either. Don’t put your forearms on the ground while prostrating. (Don’t stick them to the ground.) Don’t crack your knuckles loudly in a way that can be heard by others. Because, all of these cause imperfections in the prayer. Don’t get up for praying lethargically. Don’t pray while dozing off or feeling heavy!” (Osul Kafi, vol. 3, p. 299)
💠 Why have the Household of the Prophet (‘a) stressed these details in the rituals of praying? It is because being polite in front of God is very important, and the Household of the Prophet (‘a) wanted to teach us how to be polite in prayer. If we are polite in prayer, gradually God’s Greatness will become internalized in our hearts. Then, that sweet relationship with God will be established.

That said, some people are naturally content people in general, or they surrender to the shortfalls of this world. Better than being content in this way is believing in the Hereafter, which makes you content with the minimal things in this world.

The more severely that our will resists abandoning what is bad, the worse our situation is. However, if that vice has been in us genetically from the beginning, then it is not really a sign that our inner self is bad.
