📷 The Sign of a Hidden Defect

Worshiping causes a person to become humbler. When you prostrate in front of God very much, your humbleness toward people will naturally increase too. This is not a humbleness due to fear or greed. Rather, it is a deep, sincere humbleness. If a person worships very much but is not humble, he has definitely hidden a great defect within his soul.

📷 We should not be kind to some people…

Kindness is like rain and a spring wind that cause a seedling to grow and the buds of talent to blossom. However, rain has no effect on dry wood. Oil is usually put on dry wood so that the wind and rain will not reach it and cause it to crack. Similarly, we should not be kind to some people - those who have become too dry like dry wood.

🔻 The testing system requires that a person have the opportunity to sin and to do good deeds.
🔻 Why does Islam give sinners time and opportunities?

👉🏼 Destiny (13)

🔸In order for people to be able to produce increased value, in addition to the internal conflict between good and bad likings, the external environment must also be such a way that people can be #tested. This means it should be possible to sin and to do good deeds.

🔸But it doesn’t mean there must be both bars and mosques! This means if someone drinks alcohol in hiding in his house, he shouldn’t be accosted. You shouldn’t even expose, disgrace, or gossip about him. According to traditions, if he sinned yesterday and you see him the next day, you should assume he has repented and not think that he is a #sinner.

🔸Of course, it is natural that this way of dealing with sinners will give them the #opportunity to sin again, and this method makes sinners bolder. It is because of this method that it appears that the 124,000 divine prophets did not succeed. But if God wanted human beings to be good by force, he wouldn’t have created them at all.

🔸Without a doubt it should be possible to sin, but this doesn’t mean that we should ruin the environment in such a way that it is no longer possible to do good deeds or that people should be encouraged to sin.

🔸Westerners frequently make claims about #freedom, but interestingly this concept isn’t in the Holy Qur’an. Rather, there is the concept “the opportunity to choose.” But these two concepts are different. The freedom they have designed is such that the society is so corrupted that people don’t dare to do good deeds.

🔸In the west there is freedom to be bad and it is even pushed on people, but freedom for becoming good is limited. An example is the way good people, the sanctities, and the prophets are ridiculed in the name of “freedom of expression.” This ridiculing disrupts the testing system.

🔸We are in favor of preserving the testing system. In order to do this, there must be the opportunity for sin to the extent determined by the divine laws of #Islam.

📷 The Rocky Path of Truth Winning Over Falsehood

The path of truth has always been passing through bottlenecks where there was no hope of being able to pass through them. It is as if God wishes for truth to triumph when there is the least likelihood and the least facilities. God does not overdo giving facilities and preparing the background for truth to triumph over falsehood, so that His good servants will put effort and struggle while trusting in Him.

🔲 Having a strong spirit is very dependent on having a strong mind.
🔲 Controlling your mind means thinking about the subjects you choose.

👉🏼 #ControllingMyMind (3)

When people ask us, “Who is a good, religious person?” we usually reply, “A person who is kind, forgiving…” So we list some traits that show a soft, flexible, understanding, enlightened personality. Of course these are good. But the most important trait of a good, religious person that should come to our mind first is being #strong and having a strong spirit.

Having a strong spirit isn’t just a good trait. It’s the result of all good traits. On the other hand, being weak is not just a bad trait. It’s what causes all evil traits. Even a person pursuing his/her desires is usually the result of a weak spirit. Such a person does not taste being strong. Since having a strong spirit is very dependent on having a strong mind, the way to strengthen one’s spirit is to practice controlling one’s #mind.

Imam Khomeini (r) said, “Be aware that the first step to this stage (of self-purification) and other stations that can be the source of one being able to overcome Satan and his forces, is controlling one’s bird-like imagination. Because one’s imagination is like a bird that is constantly flying and sitting on various branches, which is the source of much misfortune.” [Sharh Chehel Hadith, pp. 17-18]

Controlling your mind means being able to think about the subjects you choose. Having a strong mind means you can think about a subject however much you want. It means being able to think deeply about one subject and being able to #focus on it.

In some supplications we say, “Forgive Your weak servant.” This shouldn’t bring the misconception that God likes a weak person! No, God says, “Be weak before Me, but you yourself should be strong.” Imam Ali (as) was asked, “How do you overcome your strong enemies?” He answered, “I first strike them with my awesomeness. Then when they are stunned, I strike them with my sword.” [Manaqib Al Abi Talib, vol. 2, p. 116] At another time, Imam Ali (as) stated, “I tore off the door of Khaybar with my spiritual strength, not my physical strength.” [Amali Saduq, p. 514]

📷 The Effect of Visiting the Imams’ (as) Shrines

Visiting the shrine of Imam Husayn (as) brings illumination for a person as much as benefiting from being in the presence of the Imam when he is alive. Sometimes making this pilgrimage is as valuable as helping the Imam (as) when he is alive. Otherwise, some of the traditions would not have stated that it is as valuable as struggling and fighting on the path of God or even higher. Of course, it is obvious that one should not abandon struggling on God’s path just because he/she has made this pilgrimage.

📷 Controlling One’s Mind in Order to Get Close to God

If a person loves God, he will constantly remember Him. However, such a love cannot be gained that easily. Until we reach to this love, we should keep ourselves in the habit of remembering God with persistence. In addition, we must prevent our minds from becoming negligent. After each period of negligence, we should start remembering Him again. We should not grow weary on this path.

🔻 It is impossible to say the testing system only determines a part of a person’s life and not the other parts.
🔻 Islam is a complete religion without any defects that need to be compensated for.

👉🏼 Destiny (14)

🔸It is impossible to say the testing system only determines a part of a person’s life. It is impossible the system of religious orders be under the influence of testing, but the issue of #government not be under its influence.

🔸In a religious government, testing is an important principle. A religious government is not a government that wishes to achieve results at any cost, because #testing is very important in religion. Thus, it gives #opportunities to people and doesn’t use the power of government to control people. Of course, giving opportunities often results in people misusing them.

🔸Once the Prophet (s) was told that some people were #hoarding certain goods. The Prophet (s) ordered them to return the hoarded goods to the market. A man said, “O Prophet of God (s), set a price for these goods.” The Prophet (s) said, “I won’t do so. Let it be determined naturally.” [Tahdhib al-Ahkam, vol. 7, p. 161] The Prophet (s) could have set the price, but he didn’t use his authority in just any way.

🔸Sometimes #legislators want to eliminate the possibility of any kind of sin, oppression or irregularity. So they put extra laws. But Islam has not done such a thing. We should always pay attention to the fact that Islam is a complete religion without any defects. So there is no need for us to compensate for it. Know that the laws you see in the west have not been designed due the growth of the science of jurisprudence or based on discussions about natural or human sciences. No, they are the result of security issues and political discussions.

🔸I am talking about the prevention of oppression and crimes. You are not able to stop all kinds of oppression with laws. You should leave some kinds of oppression to be taken care of by ethics. If ethics didn’t correct them, then the courts are used. Sometimes by setting extra laws, we want to bring certain preventions, but in this way we ruin all opportunities for being tested.

📷 Visiting God’s Words

No reasoning is like seeing. In the beginning, the prophets of God helped people to see the truth and light. Reciting the Qur’an is a kind of seeing and watching, “…recite to them His signs.” [Qur’an 3:164] When you review the verses and signs of the Qur’an, it is as if you are visiting God’s words.

📷 Life After Death

Thinking about the life in the Hereafter gives much energy, vitality and strength for this life. Thinking about the life after death makes us eager and helps us to be awaiting the Hereafter. It also makes it easy for people to pass through the corridors of death. A person who is busy working for the Hereafter will not be imprisoned by this world’s bitterness and sweetness. Such a person will gain energy and strength from within.
