In 1554, a flood in Maniowy took everything, 48 peasant farms destroyed. The Dunajec river changed its course and divided the settlement in half, so the inhabitants moved higher, to safer areas.
After this disaster, King Sigismund I the Old freed the settlers from their duties to the starost for eight years
The village was moved again to its current location even higher up after the creation of the Dunajec dam in the 1970s
