The city of more than 200,000 remains under siege, with residents unable to enter or leave. Palestinian officials reminded local media that "collective punishmentโ is prohibited under Geneva Conventions.
Netanyahu, who faces elections Tuesday, has paired the demolitions with a pledge to build "over 100 new settlements." Israeli forces and settlers have also continued attacks on Palestinian civilians across the West Bank in the past 48 hours, where they have killed more than 1,100 Palestinians since October 2023, according to AFP.
