❗️Israel launches ‘foreign interference’ investigation after record Palestinian voter turnout and electoral gains

Israel's Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg has formally requested that Shin Bet Director David Zini investigate allegations of foreign interference, foreign funding, and vote-buying in the Knesset elections, following a record 77% turnout among Palestinian voters and unprecedented gains by Palestinian parties.

In a letter to Zini, Sohlberg called for an official investigation into claims of credible intelligence concerning electoral interference.

According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu's Likud party has filed thousands of complaints with police and Shin Bet, accusing Palestinian parties of vote theft, bribery, intimidation, and fraud.

Alarmed by the turnout, Likud has also alleged that Qatar and Turkiye paid large numbers of Palestinian voters to secure their votes.

The baseless accusations come after Netanyahu's bloc emerged as the largest but failed to secure a parliamentary majority, while Palestinian parties won an estimated 19 Knesset seats, placing them in a potentially decisive position in coalition negotiations.

Following Sohlberg's request, extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called on the Shin Bet to seek arrest warrants against leaders of Palestinian parties suspected of links to so-called 'Qatari funding,' as well as other individuals connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, provided legal grounds exist.

Just FYI, Netanyahu's bloc is now calling to arrest leaders of Arab parties, cancel the election results, and redo the elections.

❗️Iran threatens to expand regional war if US and Israel launch new joint aggression

Senior Iranian military spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia issued a stern warning to US President Donald Trump, declaring that Iran's armed forces are closely monitoring all US military maneuvers across the region.

Writing in a public statement on social media, Akraminia cautioned that any attempt by the White House to launch another joint military operation alongside the Israeli occupation will trigger an immediate and unprecedented armed response from Tehran.

"There is no doubt that the flames of war will engulf a much wider area, and the end of the conflict will not be in his hands," Akraminia stated, warning that Washington will be unable to control or limit the scope of regional escalation once hostilities resume.

Citing Trump’s "distrustful" nature and long track record of betraying diplomatic commitments, the Iranian military leadership confirmed that defense units are relentlessly expanding operational readiness, upgrading offensive missile capabilities, and fortifying strategic maritime positions to repel potential aggressive actions.

"Given the US President's dark record of betraying diplomacy, the Islamic Republic of Iran's military, distrustful and indifferent to the enemy's actions, is constantly upgrading its combat readiness. We are closely monitoring US movements in the region," he wrote.

The elevated warnings from Tehran follow heightened military deployments by US Central Command in regional waters, as Washington moves additional naval assets to back Israeli military posture.

Iranian defense officials reiterated that while Tehran does not seek total escalation, any violation of Iranian sovereignty, military assets, or strategic maritime corridors will result in retaliatory operations striking US bases and allied targets across the region.

❗️Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Saturday that he was "extremely worried" about a renewed escalation in the US-Israeli war on Iran, warning that another round of fighting would be more destructive and have far-reaching consequences.

Speaking at the IISS Manama Dialogue security summit in Bahrain, Abdelatty said: "The second round will be more dangerous, more ​destructive, and it will lead to nowhere. We have to draw lessons from the past."

Turkiye has formally nominated former foreign minister and longtime UN ambassador Feridun Sinirlioglu as its candidate for the next UN secretary-general, state-run media reported on Saturday.

Sinirlioglu had signaled his intention to run on the sidelines of last month’s high-level UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

He briefly served as Turkiye’s foreign minister in 2015 during an interim period between elections and represented the country as its UN ambassador from 2016 to 2023.

Between 2002 and 2007, Sinirlioglu also served as Turkiye’s ambassador to Israel.
