Last week, our book Homesteading for Health was finally published.
It took us three years to write.
And almost immediately, we got another lesson in why the central message of the book matters:
Self-reliance matters.
Even in publishing.

By July, 2021, I was getting attacked relentlessly by mainstream media and the government for stating truth. Truths that Anthony Fauci lied about.
I spoke out early about the risks of these vaccines, including miscarriages, and damage to reproductive health. I begged the government not to approve them for pregnant women and children.
Yet still, these dangerous products are on the market.
I was right five years ago and yet still mainstream media persists with its lies.

My husband always said it best. COVID taught us that knowledge and wisdom are not the same thing. Our institutions are filled with people like Fauci who have credentials, degrees, and knowledge, but lack wisdom. And knowledge without wisdom, especially when combined with power, is incredibly dangerous. โThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,โ โ Proverbs 9:10

August on the farm has beenโฆ busy.
Two weeks ago, Israel.
Yesterday, Florida to interview with Russell Brand.
Last week, an 8-person film crew at the farm for three days.
This weekend, UAP whistleblowers arrive for a retreat.
And that's just the beginning.
๐งต
---
We have another group coming the following week, and then Jill and I head to the Polyface/Brownstone event at the end of August.
So yes, August is apparently our quiet month.
---
Meanwhile, just as we were packing for Israel, lightning struck the ground near our main house and blew out the buried electrical cable - completely. No electricity.
So we moved into the guest house.
And then Jill made a tactical error.
She looked at the carpet.
---
The carpet is about 10 years old and has survived four dogs.
It had served honorably.
So we, meaning Jill, decided that since the house was already torn apart, this was the perfect time to replace it with flooring.
But obviously you should paint BEFORE putting down new floorsโฆ
---
And if you're already painting and replacing floors, there are a few things in the kitchen that really ought to be doneโฆ
You can see where this is going.
The lightning strike has now become a home renovation project.
We may be living in the guest house for two months.
---
Meanwhile, the garden doesn't care.
The tomatoes have finally decided to produce.
The squash and cucumbers are coming in.
The peppers are going crazy.
And we have HUNDREDS of tiny "micro peppers" that Jill grew because she once had some delicious pickled ones in a salad.
---
So this week is micro-pepper pickling week.
The Anaheims will get a little riper, then be fire-roasted on the barbecue, peeled, chopped and frozen.
And the kale has become a monster and needs to come out.
Which means it is already time to start planting the fall garden.
---
But Jill's favorite experiment this year may be the garlic.
She harvested a huge crop last month, dried it, then spent hours peeling it while listening to podcasts.
An important homesteading discovery:
Process enough garlic with your bare hands and the juice will actually start cracking your skin.
---
Which reminded me why I don't like buying peeled garlic from China.
There have been documented reports of Chinese prison labor being used to peel garlic, with former prisoners describing severely damaged fingers and lost fingernails from the work.
We will grow our own, thanks.
---
But then the garlic gave us a surprise.
Jill had saved some of the mature flower heads because she thought they would look pretty dried.
Instead, they started dropping hundreds and hundreds of tiny garlic bulbils.
Suddenly, we had THOUSANDS of them.
Which naturally meant she needed another project.
---
Garlic grown from bulbils takes time.
Plant them this fall and they generally produce little single bulbs the first year.
Give them another growing cycle and they can develop into normal multi-clove garlic.
So we now have a two-year garlic experiment underway.
---
So this fall, thousands of garlic bulbils are going into the gardens.
If this works, by 2028 we may have enough garlic to feed us, donate tens of pounds to the local food bank, and give garlic to everyone we know for Christmas.
Friends and family, you have been warned.
---
Meanwhile, our three filly foals are growing like weeds.
And breeding season continuesโฆ
We have one mare confirmed pregnant.
But the first artificial insemination attempt on our buckskin mare, Quieta, didn't take.
We're now well into round two.
Each round costs about $3,500.
Meaning if this one works, we're already $7,000 into a foal that hasn't even been successfully conceived yet.
People sometimes wonder why horses are expensive.
There is your answer.
---
And that is August on the farm -And it isn't even September yet.
If you enjoy these glimpses into life on our farm, read more about it, on today's Substack:

Nigel Farage just beat the British establishment.
Again.
But this time the story involves a by-election, four terrified political parties and a 5,900-year-old intergalactic space warrior wearing a rubbish bin.

Farage resigned his Clacton seat and forced a by-election, effectively asking voters:
Would you elect me again?
Britainโs major parties then faced an obvious question:
Who are we going to put up against him?
Their answer:
Nobody.
---
Labour, Conservatives, Lib Dems and Greens all declined to field candidates.
Officially, Farage had created a โfarce,โ a โcircus,โ a โvanity project.โ
Serious politicians simply wouldnโt dignify it.
How terribly principled.
---
There is another possibility:
They were afraid he would beat the pants off them.
Rather than send a candidate into the electoral woodchipper, Britainโs political establishment discovered a sudden and touching respect for staying home.
---
Farage, you see, is simply too โfar rightโ to run against.
And what makes him so terrifyingly far right?
He wants Britain to control its borders.
British laws made in Britain.
Lower taxes.
Tougher sentences for violent criminals.
Free speech.
British farmers protected.
Net Zero reconsidered.
Terrifying stuff.
---
Farage even supports keeping the NHS free at the point of use.
Which is presumably an especially cunning form of fascism.
Apparently calling someone โfar rightโ is considerably easier than arguing with his policies.
---
And therein lies Westminsterโs real problem.
Perhaps the frightening thing about Nigel Farage isn't that he's far right.
Perhaps it's that he's far too popular.
Apparently the way to defeat the dangerous โfar rightโ is no longer to stand against it and persuade voters.
It is to hide from it.
---
Fortunately, democracy found someone braver:
Count Binface.
A 5,900-year-old intergalactic space warrior who wears a rubbish bin on his head and campaigns to make cereal cost 99p and ban speakerphones in public.
Compared with Westminster, something of a moderate.
---
So Britainโs great political parties left the job of confronting Nigel Farage to a man dressed as household waste.
They even funded the trash can to run against Farage...
And then it got better.
Farage: ~63%
Count Binface: ~27%
Yes.
The rubbish bin came second.
---
Which means the man wearing a rubbish bin was willing to do something Labour, Conservatives, Lib Dems and Greens were not:
Stand against Nigel Farage.
As Farage put it:
โI've managed to beat the establishment candidate.โ
---
Meanwhile, Farage has been remarkably unlucky around British institutions.
He was debanked by Coutts, the 300-year-old private bank synonymous with Britainโs wealthy and well-connected establishment.
The scandal eventually forced regulators to โremindโ banks not to discriminate on political grounds.
---
Now the Metropolitan Police are investigating Reform donations, while the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards has resumed yet another investigation into Farage.
Nothing seems to sharpen the institutional microscope quite like a conservative becoming inconveniently popular.
Pure coincidence, naturally.
---
Perhaps Farage should try wearing a rubbish bin on his head.
It appears to attract considerably less institutional concern.
Either way, British politics has finally achieved perfect symbolism:
The establishment refused to take out the rubbish.
So the rubbish took them out.

Friday Funnies: Too โFar Rightโ to Run Against
Nigel Farage and the Great Westminster Vanishing Act
๐70โค37๐ฅฑ5๐คฃ4โก3๐2๐2๐1
A German group examined 106 term placentas.
31 stained positive for SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
Eleven came from women who were vaccinated and reported no infection at all during that pregnancy.
No viral RNA in any sample tested. Vaccine RNA in two.
PLOS ONE, March 2026. ๐งต
---
Why that matters: nobody had looked.
Pregnant women were excluded from the pivotal trials. The preclinical biodistribution work was run in nonpregnant rats. The reproductive tox studies measured outcomes, not tissue distribution.
The placenta was never examined.
---
What did exist, in January 2021, was a text chain.
Fauci wrote to Walensky and Murthy that because many people run significant cytokine response and fever after dose two, this "theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester."
Walensky agreed. Neither said so publicly.
---
That was not a new concern.
CDC's own December 2020 guidance told clinicians to offer acetaminophen for post-vaccination fever, on the stated ground that fever is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes.
By the August 11, 2021 recommendation, the fever caution was gone.
---
The April 2021 paper that reassured everyone had a denominator problem.
12.6% miscarriage looked normal. But 700 of the 827 pregnancies counted were vaccinated in the third trimester. They could not miscarry before 20 weeks.
CDC's authors conceded it. NEJM corrected it October 14.
---
The 82% figure circulating this week is also wrong, for the mirror reason. Restricting to completed pregnancies over-selects early losses.
Neither 12.6% nor 82% is a real rate.
If you are repeating the second one, you are handing them the correction.
---
The question nobody asked: spike is a receptor-binding protein.
ACE2 sits in decidual stroma and syncytiotrophoblast. Mapped in 2006, remapped in 2020.
The 2P modification does not touch the binding domain. Corbett and Graham measured that binding at 15 nM themselves.
---
One question is still open.
I can find no evidence ACIP ever voted on the pregnancy recommendation. No 2021 MMWR carries one. I have asked CDC and they are looking into it.
If anyone can produce the vote, I will correct the record publicly.

The Miscarriage Texts
What Fauci and Walensky discussed privately in January 2021, and what pregnant women were told

Forwarded from Senator Ron Johnson
Dr. Fauciโs attorney has just notified us that Fauci refuses to appear for a private transcribed interview.
The American people deserve answers to legitimate questions regarding our miserably failed response to COVID-19. Some of those questions can only be answered by Dr. Fauci. He arrogantly once stated that he was โvery happy to testify before any congressional oversight committee. I have nothing to hide."
Apparently, he has a lot to hide.
Since Fauci refuses to talk about his role and decisions related to COVID-19, my Subcommittee will continue to obtain his records and request to speak with key individuals that he worked with. We will explore our legal options before deciding our next steps.

Something fundamental has happened to American journalism.
Journalists used to believe their job was to inform the public.
Increasingly, they believe their job is to protect democracy from the public.
That is a very different profession.
๐งต
---
After 2016, โmisinformationโ and โdisinformationโ became organizing principles for the media, intelligence agencies, NGOs, universities and Big Tech.
Brexit, Trump, AfD and other populist movements were increasingly treated not simply as political movements, but as information-security problems.
---
And there is a rather enormous philosophical problem hiding in there.
If โprotecting democracyโ means preventing voters from making choices that institutions consider dangerous, who exactly is democracy being protected from?
Apparently, the voters.
---
We saw the machinery develop during Russiagate.
Russia did interfere in the 2016 election.
But the much larger narrative, that Trump and his campaign conspired with Russia to steal the presidency, was never established.
Yet intelligence officials, leaks and an extraordinarily compliant press kept that narrative alive for years.
---
By 2020, the machinery was considerably more sophisticated.
Hunter Biden's laptop was real.
Yet 51 former intelligence officials publicly suggested it had the hallmarks of Russian information operations.
Social-media companies restricted the story.
Much of the press dutifully treated it as suspect.
Weeks before an election.
---
Whether that changed the outcome of the election can never be proven.
But that isn't really the point.
Voters were denied the normal scrutiny of authentic, politically consequential information because powerful institutions decided they knew better. Including the press.
They would protect us from โdisinformation.โ
Yet, the information was real.
---
Now we are watching the same philosophy operate around Trump, Kennedy, MAHA and vaccine policy.
I have experienced this personally with coverage of ACIP.
Credentials distorted. Positions caricatured. Political labels substituted for substantive arguments.
The objective frequently appears to be discrediting the messenger before readers ever hear the message.
---
This didn't begin in the newsroom.
Major philanthropies fund journalism schools, fellowships, NGOs, media projects and coverage of subjects they have already identified as social priorities.
The Gates Foundation does it openly.
Open Society Foundations funds journalism as well.
Follow the incentives.
---
None of this requires a secret meeting where everyone receives their talking points.
Institutions don't work that way.
Create the incentives. Train journalists in the ideology. Fund the preferred subjects. Reward advocacy. Define dissent as โmisinformation.โ
Eventually, the system polices itself.
---
Journalism has quietly acquired a new mission:
Not simply determining what is true.
But deciding which ideas are legitimate enough for you to hear.
That isn't journalism.
And it certainly isn't democracy.
---
Our essay has dropped:

NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya SHUTS DOWN a mainstream media reporter trying to blame the collapse in public health trust on President Trump and RFK Jr.
โThe reason why you have this problem of public trust is because what happened in 2020 has not yet been addressed.โ

Language matters. The modern censorship and propaganda apparatus does not always need to delete your words. It can simply classify them. Misinformation. Extremism. Far-right. Conspiracy theory. Anti-vaccine. Election denier. Climate denier. Christian nationalist.

Let's be clear - none of the three HHS secretaries under Presidents Obama and Biden held an MD or PhD.
Kathleen Sebelius (Obama, 2009โ2014): Held a Bachelor of Arts (Trinity Washington University) and a Master of Public Administration (University of Kansas). She did not have a doctorate or medical degree.
Sylvia Mathews Burwell (Obama, 2014โ2017) did not possess a master's, PhD, or other advanced degree.
Xavier Becerra (Biden, 2021โ2025): Held a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Stanford University. He is an attorney, not a medical doctor or PhD holder.
So - why has mainstream media made such a BFD about Kennedy not being a scientist or MD? Why do they continue to hammer at this?
