We Share in the Glory of Jesus

Text: _There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory._ (1 Cor. 15:41 NKJ)

Jesus is an embodiment of the glory of God (John 1:13-14). He reflected glory while bodily on earth. However, God has called us to partake of His glory in Christ Jesus (John 17:22-26). When we were born-again, we were immersed in the nature of God in Christ and Christ is the glory of God (Heb. 1:2-3). We were born into the glory of God the moment we accepted Jesus as our Saviour. Every believer, therefore, is to shine with the light of God’s glory, just as the stars of heaven. The Lord expects us now, on the earth, to increase in glory progressively until our light becomes full blown, fully Christ on the earth.

The degree of glory you are living in right now is defined by how Christ-like your life is. Remember that Christ is the glory of God. Our personal experience of the life of Christ and the expression of His Person through us define our level of glory. Your calling to glory includes both your experience of the divine nature and your expression of that nature, only a mere write-up on posters in burial announcements and programs. For example, God is never broke, sick, depressed, etc. Instead, in His presence there is the fullness of joy. Your call to glory is to share and enjoy the very life that God is living right now. As you do this you become an expression of His Person, as the light that is shining on the earth right now! Let the glory of God in your life continue to increase, brighter and brighter each day. Continue feeding on the Word and have fellowship with God in prayer to move constantly from one level of glory to another.

Help me to bind up all the fear and cast it from my mind. Let Your peace rule in my heart.

Calm me, Father. You are in control and I am Your beloved child. Grant me Your peace in my heart as I choose to depend fully on You. Allow me to have the tranquility Your peace can bring. No matter what problem I have, I know You are bigger and You are more powerful than it is.

Key Thought

We have basic rights - at least that's the assumption many of us operate under as human beings. We get very angry when those basic rights are compromised. Jesus, however, is more concerned that we are redemptive than insisting that our rights are honored in every situation here on earth. His goal is to redeem others through us, not for us to get even with them or even necessarily get what we deserve. Jesus' orientation toward personal rights should not surprise us. He gave up all of his rights and left heaven to redeem us!* (Philippians 2:5-11) On the other hand, Jesus staunchly defended the rights of others when those in charge tried to take those rights away from them.** Why? Jesus' primary concern was to redeem and bless all people (Matthew 23:23). He now wants us to do the same. The goal of our behavior is to be redemptive to others whether it is our rights or theirs that have been violated!

* Paul's quotation of what was probably an early Christian hymn emphasizes this (Philippians 2:5-11) as do John's repeated reminders about what love is (1 John 3:16-18, 4:7-12).

Today's Prayer

Almighty and compassionate Father, give me less passion for my own rights and greater passion to defend the rights of others who are being abused and exploited. Give me a sensitive heart to see beyond the things done to me that are wrong so that I may see the wrong in the hearts of others and influence them to come closer to you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

I praise You for You have chosen me. You have given me the right to be called Your child. Thank You that You bought us with Christ's blood and we are Your treasured possession through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Instead of my mind being filled with earthly treasures, may it be filled by Your Spirit and Your word so that we would be conforming to the image of Christ. Help me to reflect His attitudes and behaviors instead of the ones of this world.

There are times that it's really hard to find rest especially when life is in chaos and things are falling apart. 

Lead me to that resting place where I can place all of my worries, stresses and fear into Your hands. Ease the tension and replenish my body. I ask that You silence the voices of doubt and speak Your words of truth. 

Please remove the heaviness of my day and pour out Your peace abundantly upon me.
Help me to breathe deeply finding true rest in You.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge my need for salvation and invite Jesus into my heart. I believe He died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day.

Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness. I renounce any allegiance to powers or beliefs that have kept me from You.

Come into my life, Jesus. Be my Lord and Savior. Guide me, heal me, and deliver me from all bondage. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me a new heart that loves and follows You.

Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer. I receive Your gift of salvation and eternal life. I am a new creation in Christ.
