GRACE UPON GRACE — JOHN 1:16-17

From [the Word's] abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. — John 1:16-17 NLT

Rich blessings, grace, mercy, kindness, unfailing love, faithfulness, ... The list could go on and on forever. God's blessings to us in Jesus are beyond our scope of imagining. As wonderful as the work of Moses had been for Israel, as defining as the Torah (the law that God gave Moses) was for humankind, Jesus is greater still. [1] He brings grace and truth, love and faithfulness piled one upon another. In fact, he brings God's full salvation with all of its blessings. Learn, memorize, and use the Scriptures to teach yourself God's will. Cherish the work of the great heroes of Scripture. But, know that Jesus is God's greatest message sent to bring you God's grace - his unfailing love and faithfulness - in abundance!
[1] Romans 8:3.

Today's Prayer

Loving and Holy Father, thank you for your incomparable greatness and your incredible graciousness. Forgive my selfish and forgetful heart for not being full of joy and appreciation for the blessings you lavish upon me daily. Dear Father, help me to see Jesus as the complete embodiment of your truth and grace. In the name of Jesus, your Son, I pray. Amen.

Don’t put a time limit on God. The moment you try to dictate when He must act, you step away from faith and into control.

You don’t control God’s timing. Trust Him, remain in faith, and remember that He makes all things beautiful in His own time. 🙏✨

GOD REVEALED! — JOHN 1:18

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One [Jesus], who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.v— John 1:18 NLT

God is much too holy to be seen by human eyes. A face-to-face encounter with the Holy God of Israel was beyond the scope of human capability. [1] Jesus, however, came as God in human flesh, Immanuel, God with us! [2] So Jesus did much more than tell us about God. He revealed God. Jesus is God revealed. In his touch of the leper, in his raising of Lazarus, in his healing of the blind, in his feeding of the 5000, we see God at work and God in love with his human creation. Jesus is the great reminder that God not only wanted to know us but that he also wanted to be known by us. So as John finishes his beautiful prologue, please hear his invitation to come and see what Jesus did and know his life on earth was God at work, God in ministry, and God offering us his love.

Today's Prayer

Holy and righteous Father, thank you for wanting to make yourself known to me. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, and in Jesus' ministry help me fully see you and your love for me and your call upon my life. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Immanuel. Amen.

So much of sin begins when “I” becomes bigger than God.

I want what I want.
I deserve this.
I know better.
I will do it my way.
I do not need anyone to tell me what to do.

Pride slowly shifts the center of our lives from God to ourselves.

The problem is not that we have dreams, desires, opinions, or ambitions.
The problem begins when we place ourselves above God and make our own will the highest authority.

Sin says, “What do I want?”
Surrender says, “Lord, what do You want?”

Pride says, “Look at what I have accomplished.”
Humility says, “Everything I have is because of Your grace.”

That is why Jesus calls us to deny ourselves.

*“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”*
Luke 9:23

Sometimes the greatest spiritual battle is not against what is around us.
It is against what is inside us.

The desire to be right.
The need to be recognized.
The hunger to control.
The refusal to surrender.

Because when “I” sits on the throne, there is very little room for God.

But when we surrender ourselves to Him, we finally discover who we were created to be.

Less of me.
More of Him.

Because the center of a surrendered life is no longer “I.”

It is Christ.

Following God is not always easy. 🙏

When you choose to follow Christ, you cannot simply live however you want. God’s love comes with correction and discipline. When He loves you, He will chastise you and redirect you when you go wrong.

Be mindful of your decisions and take your walk with God seriously. His correction is proof of His love. ❤️🔥
