“Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing.

The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.”

The cover of The Economist's "World in 2026" deserves a closer look. It's not just random imagery; it's structured almost like a 12-month calendar.

For example, the August issue featured a melting glacier, hinting at some form of "natural disaster." A few months after the cover was released, Nepal experienced landslides and floods, which were reported by the media as being caused by glacial melt.

While the images on the cover are largely symbolic, considering the actual events that occurred in 2026, a significant number of these "predictions" have already come to pass.

The tank featured in the September issue seems to suggest potential military conflicts or escalations (perhaps even ground warfare), and also hints at expansion in the defense sector and shifts in the balance of power among global superpowers.

A collection of alarming comments made in the last four days by seven different people who are inside the AI world

Jacob Coxon, former AI researcher at Anthropic and OpenAI: "The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade.” x.com/hilbertspaess/…
Samuel Marks, Scalable Oversight lead at Anthropic: "AI developers believe their technology could cause human extinction (or similarly bad outcomes). This could happen in the next few years.” x.com/saprmarks/stat…
Evan Hubinger, Alignment Science lead at Anthropic: "Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans!” x.com/EvanHub/status…
Alex Turner, former Research Scientist at Google DeepMind: "I left Google DeepMind in June. Jacob is right: many researchers believe they are building something that could kill everyone on the planet. It was literally my day job to think about how to stop that." x.com/Turn_Trout/sta…
Jakub Pachocki, Chief Scientist at OpenAI: "This is a time that calls for extreme caution. I am concerned no one is prepared for the consequences of a continued rapid rise in machine intelligence.” openai.com/index/an-alien…
Jason Wolfe, Researcher at OpenAI: "I don't know what my probabilities are on literal extinction, but I think there are a number of ways AI could go poorly for humanity, and at the current frankly terrifying pace humanity will be quite lucky if we manage to find and stay on the narrow path between all the bad outcomes.” x.com/w01fe/status/2…
Jonathan Richard Schwarz, former Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind: "I left DeepMind after 7 years (and since rejected offers to join the other two) due to severe concerns about the concentration of power these labs represent. What is currently happening in this field is deeply unhealthy for society.” x.com/schwarzjn_/sta…

WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO BAPTIZE? — JOHN 1:24-25

Then the Pharisees who had been sent asked [John the Baptizer], "If you aren't the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?" — John 1:24-25 NLT

What right do you have to do what you do? That's a good question, especially for those of us who are blessed with freedom. We take for granted our right to do what we do. Behind this question, however, stands a powerful truth: The only things we have the right to do are the things God in his grace has granted us the right to do. John the Baptizer did what he did because God had called him to the task. John had the opportunities he had because God opened the doors for them. John had the effective ministry he had because he did what God wanted him to do. John's right to baptize, preach, teach, and prepare the way was given him by God. More than just the right to do these things, he had the authority of God to do them. God has great plans for us also. He calls us to his purposes. He has given us the right as his children to bring light to this dark world. Let's use our God-given rights to our Father's glory!

Today's Prayer

Father, thank you for giving me the right to be your child. Inspire me to bold and courageous living for the sake of the Kingdom and the cause of the Good News of Jesus. Please give me a heart as fearless and true as your great servant John the Baptizer. In Jesus' name. Amen.

🔥 BUILD A STRONG SPIRIT!

If anyone can easily make you angry, they can easily control you.

A strong spirit gives you the discipline to stay in control, even when situations and people try to provoke you.

Don’t give people the power to control your emotions. Build a strong spirit! 💪🏾🔥

REAL PLACES, REAL PEOPLE, REAL SAVIOR — JOHN 1:26-28

John told [the Pharisees who asked him what right he had to baptize], "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize. Though his ministry follows mine, I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal." This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing. — John 1:26-28 NLT

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."© If we are not careful, we can find ourselves looking at the story of Jesus as we view a work of fiction. In his gospel, John wants us to know that his account of Jesus is more than just a good tale. It is a story about real places, real people, and a real Savior. Yes, there was real water for baptism. There was a real city around which all of these things involving John the Baptizer happened. There were real, everyday people who came to this place along the Jordan River to open their hearts to the Kingdom of God. John reminds both them and us that there was a real Savior on the scene. God would walk among them as Jesus. He would get the dust of the streets on his feet. He was so great that John said he was not worthy to do the most menial work of a slave - kneel down, unlatch his sandals, and clean his feet. Dirt, sweat, feet, rivers, people, cities, crowds ... real places, real people, real Savior, real Jesus!

Today's Prayer

O what wondrous love you've shown, O God, by sending your perfect Son to live in my imperfect world. O what wondrous grace you've given, dear God, when you allowed yourself to be soiled by the dust of my existence so that I could live for the praise of your glory. I praise you. I thank you. I love you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

TRUE HAPPINESS

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” - Psalm 1:1–2

Do you know that when you make friends with people, something about them rubs off on you? It can be negative or positive. He who walks with the wise will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.

The psalmist wrote about the crowd we hang around with. In our walk with God, where we stand, who we stand with, and who we listen to affects our joy. You can never be happy in the presence of a bitter person, angry person, or jealous person.

First, you start by walking, then you stand, then you end up sitting! This is how you will retrogress if you keep company with people who are ungodly, sinful, or scornful.

Be intentional about the company you hang around with, because bad company corrupts good morals.

PRAYER
Lord, guide my choice of friends. Lord, let my company bring glory to You.
