Knock Down the Appetite for Sexual Immorality

โ€œIs not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?โ€ Isaiah 58:6

It was God who ordained sex, but He only accepts it in the context of marriage. If you are not married and have sexual intercourse with another person, it is fornication. This generation is deceiving themselves by calling it dating. It is not dating! If a married person goes outside their matrimonial boundaries and has sexual intercourse with another man or woman, it is adultery.

The reason why God approves sex in the context of marriage is because it is the only thing that ties the souls of the people engaged in the sexual act together. When it is not done in the context of marriage, you allow demons to attack you, and afterwards, they will fight you with guilt. You choose your sin, but God chooses the consequences. That is why any sickness contracted from sex is difficult to cure.

Sex is a trusted weapon in the hands of the devil to draw souls to hell. I am concerned about how you cannot control your sex appetite. Anyone who cannot control his food appetite cannot control his sex appetite. Spend time in fasting and prayer and put your body under the influence of God, so you shall not fulfill the desire of the flesh.

Prayer
Help me to walk in sexual purity all the days of my life.

A life rooted in prayer and consecrated to holiness is a life continually transformed by Godโ€™s presence. The closer we draw to Him, the deeper we enter into His glory, His power, and His purpose.
"But he answered her not a word." โ€” Matthew 15:23

Genuine seekers who as yet have not obtained the blessing, may take comfort from the story before us. The Saviour did not at once bestow the blessing, even though the woman had great faith in him. He intended to give it, but he waited awhile. "He answered her not a word." Were not her prayers good? Never better in the world. Was not her case needy? Sorrowfully needy. Did she not feel her need sufficiently? She felt it overwhelmingly. Was she not earnest enough? She was intensely so. Had she no faith? She had such a high degree of it that even Jesus wondered, and said, "O woman, great is thy faith." See then, although it is true that faith brings peace, yet it does not always bring it instantaneously. There may be certain reasons calling for the trial of faith, rather than the reward of faith. Genuine faith may be in the soul like a hidden seed, but as yet it may not have budded and blossomed into joy and peace. A painful silence from the Saviour is the grievous trial of many a seeking soul, but heavier still is the affliction of a harsh cutting reply such as this, "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs." Many in waiting upon the Lord find immediate delight, but this is not the case with all. Some, like the jailer, are in a moment turned from darkness to light, but others are plants of slower growth. A deeper sense of sin may be given to you instead of a sense of pardon, and in such a case you will have need of patience to bear the heavy blow. Ah! poor heart, though Christ beat and bruise thee, or even slay thee, trust him; though he should give thee an angry word, believe in the love of his heart. Do not, I beseech thee, give up seeking or trusting my Master, because thou hast not yet obtained the conscious joy which thou longest for. Cast thyself on him, and perseveringly depend even where thou canst not rejoicingly hope.
Where Are You Staying? โ€” John 1:38-39

Jesus looked around and saw [John the Baptizer's two disciples] following. "What do you want?" he asked them.
They replied, "Rabbi" (which means "Teacher"), "where are you staying?"
"Come and see," he said. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day. โ€” John 1:38-39 NLT

"Where are you staying" could be accurately translated by the slang expression, "Where're you at, man?" The disciples wanted to know where Jesus' heart was. They wanted to know "what made him tick." They weren't asking for his address or wanting to evaluate the quality of his neighborhood. They didn't need to know his floor plan or the style of his home decor. They wanted to know if they should give up everything they had and follow him. Jesus' invitation to these early disciples is also an invitation to us: "Come and see," Jesus says. "You want to know my heart? You want to know what is important to me? You want to know how I can bless you? Come and see!" Jesus invites us to meet him through the Gospel of John. If you are not sure about Jesus, don't just read books about him; come, read his own story in the Gospels, especially the Gospel of John. He asks us to come, stay with him, and learn from him. He invites us to come and see!

Today's Prayer

Father, I do want to know Jesus. I want to know his love for me. I want to know his deity and glory. I want to know why he did what he did and why he cares so much for me. Please reveal Jesus to me as I seek to know him in this journey through the Gospel of John. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Knock Down the Appetite for Food

โ€œIs it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?โ€ Isaiah 58:7

No one on this earth will ever let go of food when he or she is hungry. Some people are so glued to food that they cannot go a day without it, except for those who say they have special conditions and therefore cannot fast. But we have records of people with chronic conditions who stepped out in faith and fasted, and after the fast, they found that the symptoms had left their bodies and they had been made whole. It is all according to your faith.

If sickness can come from the food we eat, then we can overcome that sickness by abstaining from food, because as you eat, you feed the sickness. People who fast live healthy lives, look very young and live longer.

You are responsible for your health. Once in a while, refrain from food and spend time fasting and praying. It is the secret of many great men. Dear, I am concerned about your eating habits. Have a life of fasting and prayer.

Prayer
Lord, grant me grace to fast and pray.
