*_No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon._*
Matthew 6:24

*Prayer :*

I confess sometimes I have a false sense of happiness when money can satiate my worldly cravings which are destined for decay.

Remind me that money can certainly be put to many good uses when used in a righteous manner but the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Help me not to pursuit money but to serve You with undivided heart.

Father, I choose to trust You and seek You first above all things. May all of my energies be channeled to honor You.
In Jesus' name, I pray.

Love God as Christ Did

Text: _β€œHe who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him”_ 1 John 4:8-9

Jesus was an addicted lover of God. It was shown in His daily life on earth. God was involved in Jesus’ daily life. You see, God personally desires to be involved in our daily lives. As Paul says, β€œit is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). Paul explains that Jesus Christ, our elder brother, lives in us if we are converted Christians (Galatians 2:20).

How should we express our love towards God? β€œBy this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:2-3). As John explains, God expects us to demonstrate our love to Him and others by keeping His commandments. We have the life of Jesus Christ as a model of how we should live. Jesus kept the commandments of God (John 15:10). He pleased God because of His obedience and His desire to do the will of God. As we are recipients of God’s love, He expects us to share that love with others. That love, Christ said, would characterize His disciples through the ages. β€œA new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:11).

Prayers:
Father, cause our hearts to love You more in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
*_Judge not, that ye be not judged._*
Matthew 7:1

*Prayer :*

I acknowledge that I need this lesson every day of my life. I pray that You keep me from being critical and negative about others.

I know when we are unfairly harsh to others, we are setting the standard by which God will judge us. Father, I ask You to judge me favorably. Help me to look lovingly on others and to judge them favorably.

Thank you for being so rich and free with Your mercy and grace lavished on me. Please help me to be more gracious and merciful to others in the same way.
In Jesus' name, I pray.
Don’t let the glitter of the world dim your walk with God.

The world may flash its shine, but only God gives true gold.

Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord.” β€” Proverbs 23:17

'Vows Not Needed!' β€” Matthew 5:33-34

[Jesus continued:] "You have also heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you make to the Lord.' But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, 'By heaven!' because heaven is God's throne."β€” Matthew 5:33-34 NLT

Key Thought

When we tell God or anyone that we will do something, he expects us to keep our word. It doesn't matter what the cultural view of truth and lying or reliability is, we are to be honest before God and with each other. In a way, it is ridiculous to try to live in any other way. After all, God knows our hearts, our intentions, and our actions. He will hold us to our word whether anyone else does or not! So let's make sure our word is genuine and that we don't need to pile up a bunch of other "flowery" language, vows, or expletives - even ones normally acceptable in our culture - to prop up our commitments. If we say we'll do it, then let's do it!

Today's Prayer

Father in heaven, please forgive me for the times I have not kept my word. Stir in me a passion for faithfulness and trustworthiness. Make me a person who can be counted on to follow through with what I say. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Lord, You planned this day. You are good to us, the sinners. You did not destroy us because of our sins but redeemed us. Please help me to be kind, loving and compassionate to others. Just as You have forgiven me, I pray I will be a generous giver of forgiveness to others. I pray You teach me how to live out what You impress upon my heart today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Coming from the darkness into the light is not guaranteed but by Your grace.

Send us the fire of the Holy Spirit to melt our icy feelings and tear down any wall that divides Your people.

Let us accept one another while our diversity, differences and disagreement continue. Teach us to love all people in the way You do love.

Let us glorify You with one mind and one voice.

A Focused Lord Jesus

Text: _β€œIf anyone asks you, Why are you untying it?’ say, The Lord needs it.’”_ β€”Luke 19:31

Jesus has almost completed His journey to Jerusalem. He has focused on His mission and is still resolute as He prepares to enter the city (see Luke 9:51). In today’s Bible reading we find Jesus giving unusual instructions to arrange for His ride into Jerusalem. Notice that this is no weak Jesus who becomes a victim of circumstances. He has a mission, and He’s in charge. His command is simple: β€œGo … you will find a colt … Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, Why are you untying it?’ say, The Lord needs it.’” And that is enough. Jesus identifies Himself as Lord, able to give commands and expects them to be obeyed. As Lord, He is fully aware of fulfilling a prophecy about riding a colt and proclaiming peace when He enters Jerusalem as King (Zechariah 9:9-10). If we pay attention, we can see a Jesus who knows He’s Israel’s Lord, and as their Lord He can give orders. He brings the message of God’s love and salvation for all who believe in Him, but He’s no pushover. He’s on a mission, and He will complete it. What He’s about to do, no one but the Son of God Himself can do.

Jesus was focused on His mission. We are called to emulate same too. If you are not concentrating on what you are supposed to do, you will not achieve what you ought to achieve. Because Jesus was focused, everything obeyed Him in the fulfillment of His purpose. Remember, Jesus is not a Savior whom we may mold to our liking. He is β€œLord,” expecting our acknowledgement and full obedience. Do you honor and obey that Jesus?

Prayers:
Lord Jesus, we have learned the truth about You. You accomplished Your mission, and You call us to accomplish ours. O Lord, empower us and keep us focused by Your Spirit today, Amen.
