🔥 BUILD A STRONG SPIRIT!

If anyone can easily make you angry, they can easily control you.

A strong spirit gives you the discipline to stay in control, even when situations and people try to provoke you.

Don’t give people the power to control your emotions. Build a strong spirit! 💪🏾🔥

REAL PLACES, REAL PEOPLE, REAL SAVIOR — JOHN 1:26-28

John told [the Pharisees who asked him what right he had to baptize], "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize. Though his ministry follows mine, I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal." This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing. — John 1:26-28 NLT

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."© If we are not careful, we can find ourselves looking at the story of Jesus as we view a work of fiction. In his gospel, John wants us to know that his account of Jesus is more than just a good tale. It is a story about real places, real people, and a real Savior. Yes, there was real water for baptism. There was a real city around which all of these things involving John the Baptizer happened. There were real, everyday people who came to this place along the Jordan River to open their hearts to the Kingdom of God. John reminds both them and us that there was a real Savior on the scene. God would walk among them as Jesus. He would get the dust of the streets on his feet. He was so great that John said he was not worthy to do the most menial work of a slave - kneel down, unlatch his sandals, and clean his feet. Dirt, sweat, feet, rivers, people, cities, crowds ... real places, real people, real Savior, real Jesus!

Today's Prayer

O what wondrous love you've shown, O God, by sending your perfect Son to live in my imperfect world. O what wondrous grace you've given, dear God, when you allowed yourself to be soiled by the dust of my existence so that I could live for the praise of your glory. I praise you. I thank you. I love you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

TRUE HAPPINESS

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” - Psalm 1:1–2

Do you know that when you make friends with people, something about them rubs off on you? It can be negative or positive. He who walks with the wise will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.

The psalmist wrote about the crowd we hang around with. In our walk with God, where we stand, who we stand with, and who we listen to affects our joy. You can never be happy in the presence of a bitter person, angry person, or jealous person.

First, you start by walking, then you stand, then you end up sitting! This is how you will retrogress if you keep company with people who are ungodly, sinful, or scornful.

Be intentional about the company you hang around with, because bad company corrupts good morals.

PRAYER
Lord, guide my choice of friends. Lord, let my company bring glory to You.
"The liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free." — Galatians 5:1

This "liberty" makes us free to heaven's charter-the Bible. Here is a choice passage, believer, "When thou passest through the rivers, I will be with thee." You are free to that. Here is another: "The mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee"; you are free to that. You are a welcome guest at the table of the promises. Scripture is a never-failing treasury filled with boundless stores of grace. It is the bank of heaven; you may draw from it as much as you please, without let or hindrance. Come in faith and you are welcome to all covenant blessings. There is not a promise in the Word which shall be withheld. In the depths of tribulations let this freedom comfort you; amidst waves of distress let it cheer you; when sorrows surround thee let it be thy solace. This is thy Father's love-token; thou art free to it at all times. Thou art also free to the throne of grace. It is the believer's privilege to have access at all times to his heavenly Father. Whatever our desires, our difficulties, our wants, we are at liberty to spread all before him. It matters not how much we may have sinned, we may ask and expect pardon. It signifies nothing how poor we are, we may plead his promise that he will provide all things needful. We have permission to approach his throne at all times-in midnight's darkest hour, or in noontide's most burning heat. Exercise thy right, O believer, and live up to thy privilege. Thou art free to all that is treasured up in Christ-wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. It matters not what thy need is, for there is fulness of supply in Christ, and it is there for thee. O what a "freedom" is thine! freedom from condemnation, freedom to the promises, freedom to the throne of grace, and at last freedom to enter heaven!

The simplicity of life is when you understand that you are not perfect. There’s so much that others know about you, that you have no idea of. Be teachable and learn that you can make a mistake but mistakes don’t make you.
