‘Project Atlantis’ was supposed to take out the Hamas tunnels and to kill senior Hamas officials, by pumping in seawater at high intensity – regardless of the dangers posed to hostages.

Some six months after this system was revealed to the public, it turns out Atlantis is lost – with nobody from the IDF able to explain why the expensive dud was being shelved.

Haaretz learned that from the very first attempts to address the problem, professionals cast doubt on the ability to flood the tunnels in a way that would make it difficult for Hamas activists to remain in them, and to cause their deaths.

💵Cash4Kiev: Pentagon Discovers Further $2BN in Accounting Errors

The findings increased the value of ammunition, missiles and other equipment sent to Ukraine to $8.2bn, a US govt report has revealed.

In 2023, the Pentagon said staff used "replacement value" instead of "depreciated value" to tabulate the billions in materials sent to Ukraine.
