Washington decided to fly a P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft through the politically sensitive Taiwan Strait Tuesday.
In response, the PLA “organized fighter jets to tail and stand guard against the US aircraft’s flight, dealing with it in accordance with the law,” a Chinese military spox said.
“Theater troops are on constant high alert to resolutely defend national sovereignty and security and regional peace and stability,” the statement added.

Canada’s PM is fighting for his political life with his Liberal Party facing by-election embarrassment.
Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party has its back against the wall in a by-election in the federal riding of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun in Quebec.
Normally, the Liberals would have expected to win Monday’s contest, but polls showed its candidate being pressed hard by the Bloc Québécois.
Meanwhile, conservatives in parliament are threatening to call a vote of no confidence later this week against Trudeau, who has been heading a minority administration since the 2021 election.

They believe that the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act is a breach of the first amendment, which protects freedom of speech, and that the Biden admin cannot dictate ownership of an online platform.
The suit adds there is “no question” the law will lead to the shutdown of TikTok and will silence the “170 million Americans who use the platform to communicate in ways that cannot be replicated elsewhere.”
US govt officials claim that TikTok is a security risk for American citizens, but the real reason is they have no control over the app’s algorithms.
