Krathon directly hit the island’s west coast, in an unusual twist, and made landfall as a much weaker category 1 typhoon, but officials still warned people to stay home.
Taiwan’s fire dept reported two deaths as the approaching typhoon brought torrential rains across the island.

Iran fired some 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday evening - breaching the Iron Dome defense on numerous occasions.
Israel’s Nevatim air base was hit 32 times during Tuesday’s bombardment, a US arms expert has said.
Dr Jeffrey Lewis, professor at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, arrived at the figure by counting impact craters on satellite images of the base taken after the Iranian attack.
