Christian Lindner, the former finance minister fired by the German chancellor last week, said the election would be a foregone conclusion if Scholz was to lead the SPD into the contest.

“I think the race for chancellor is actually over,”Lindner told a business conference, adding he was “almost certain” Friedrich Merz, the CDU leader, would win.

Politicians from Scholz’s own party have also called for him to step aside and make way for Boris Pistorius - Germany’s current defense minister.

💲 UK Continues to Export Military Equipment to Israel Despite “Suspending” Arms Sales – Declassified

Britain has continued exporting components for use by the Israeli air force due to gaps in the govt’s restrictions on arms sales.

At least two shipments of parts for IAF planes have been dispatched from Britain since September, when Labour suspended some arms export licences due to human rights concerns.

The documents show how items were dispatched by UK-based engineering firm Martin-Baker to an Elbit Systems factory in Karmiel, Israel, in October.

The war machine keeps turning.

😒 FBI Arrests CIA Official for Leaking Classified Intel on Israel’s Attack on Iran - NYT

CIA official Asif W. Rahman was arrested by the FBI in Cambodia on Tuesday and charged with disclosing classified documents allegedly showing Tel Aviv’s plan of aggression for Tehran.

Rahman was indicted by a US federal court in Virginia with charges of willful retention and transmission of national defense information, the report said.

He has been brought to a federal court in Guam to face charges.
