🔴‘Hannibal Directive’: Israel Killed Own Citizens on Oct 7 – UN

A UN investigation found “strong indications” that the ‘Hannibal Directive’ was used in several instances that day, “harming Israelis at the same time as striking Palestinian militants.”

The directive – officially revoked in 2016 – was put in place to prevent the capture of Israeli soldiers by enemy forces who may use them as bargaining chips, allowing troops to open fire even if it caused the death of a comrade.

The report concluded that at least 14 Israeli civilians, including 12-year-old twins and a 68-year-old grandmother, “were likely killed as a result of Israeli security forces fire.”

Tel Aviv has yet to specifically address the Hannibal Directive accusations but it has rejected the overall report after it found Israel guilty of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

❗️Israel-Born Dutch Senator Fails Security Check – Loses Cabinet Post

The move comes after a classified report by the Dutch secret service on Gidi Markuszower – with some journalists in the Netherlands suspecting him to be a Mossad agent.

Markuszower - who in 2010 pulled out of an election race following a report by the AIVD secret service about his alleged contacts with an unnamed foreign intelligence service - has yet to respond to a request by the Times of Israel for comment on the subject.

Lawmaker Marjolein Faber will replace Markuszower as Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom candidate for immigration and asylum minister, the leader of the Netherlands’ largest political party said.

📈Company Bankruptcies Soar in Germany

Some 5,209 companies filed for bankruptcy in Germany in the first three months of the year, the Federal Statistical Office revealed Friday, continuing an upward spike.

This year's first quarter figure was 26.5% higher than in the same time period last year. It was also 11.2% higher than in same quarter in 2020, before the coronavirus forced closures across the country.

Experts expect the number of corporate insolvencies in Germany to rise to around 20,000 cases in 2024 – with a mixture of high energy prices and high interest rates proving to be a lethal cocktail.
