Britain’s MoD holds video surveillance footage of Gaza from the day that Israel killed seven international aid workers but is refusing to publish the tape - claiming its exempt from disclosure on security grounds

The footage was taken by an RAF surveillance plane - one of 200 flights from Cyprus supposedly intent on tracking down hostages.

Among those killed in the World Central Kitchen convoy on April 1 were three British military veterans: John Chapman, James Kirby and James ‘Jim’ Henderson.

Is London refusing to release the footage because the content relates to UK special forces or MI6?

⚠️ China & Japan Resume Strategic Dialogue after Four Years

Vice foreign ministers from the countries held talks Monday for the first time in four and a half years, as the countries focus on shared interests amid a host of diplomatic challenges. 

Masataka Okano and Chinese counterpart Ma Zhaoxu discussed developments in the East and South China seas as well as Ukraine during their meeting in Tokyo.

Other topics included Japan's release of treated wastewater from the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant and the detention of Japanese nationals in China.

✈️ Paris Airport Workers File Strike Motion for Olympics Opening Ceremony

A union representing workers at Paris’ two major airports has filed a strike motion for July 26, the date of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The Force Ouvrière (FO) union – which represents 11.5% of workers at Orly and Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airports – filed the motion, which will last from 05:00 on July 26 to 07:00 on July 27.

FO wants a €300 flat bonus offered to all workers to be increased to €1,000, and for other selective bonuses to increase both in terms of payout and number of staff eligible.

🎯 China Unveils World’s First Meltdown-Proof Nuclear Reactor

Researchers at Tsinghua University in China have successfully demonstrated a meltdown-proof nuclear fission reactor - the twin reactor design can generate 105 MW of power each and has been in the works since 2016.

Conventional nuclear reactors use fuel rods that are energy-dense, containing large amounts of uranium with smaller amounts of graphite. In the HTR-PM reactor design, the fuel rod is inverted, and a large amount of graphite is used within which uranium is encased.

The nuclear fission reaction occurs much slower than a conventional reactor and can withstand a higher temperature for much longer. Additionally, the excess heat generated through the process is dispersed over a larger fuel area and can be cooled using passive or non-energy-consuming methods.

The reactor began commercial operation in December 2023.
