The Guardia Civil can be seen chasing the vessel and trying to block the path when it ploughs into it - the speedboat’s four passengers were flung into the water but quickly rescued.
The incident took place off Melilla, a Spanish territory in North Africa, whose local authorities say the Civil Guard had proceeded normally to stop the migrants reaching the coast.
Moroccan authorities said they were investigating the collision, but Spain’s interior ministry said it would not

Two Israeli ministers attacked EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell Thursday over his calls for imposing sanctions against them.
"Joseph Borrell, who transfers money to the Palestinian Authority - an organization that pays murderers of Jews and encourages terrorism – wants to impose sanctions on Israeli ministers who are working to fight terrorism. Hypocrisy!" Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said on X.
Israeli FM Israel Katz also opened fire on the top European diplomat:
“Outgoing EU foreign minister Josep Borrell claims that the Israeli FM is calling for the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank. This is a blatant lie, just like his previous falsehood regarding my statements about Gaza, from which he was forced to retract."
Katz had called for applying Gaza-style measures in the northern West Bank, including temporary evacuations of Palestinians, amid a major military operation in the area, the largest in two decades.
The truth hurts…

“No orders to go [fight] outside Belarus have been given or will be given. We will fight only when someone comes to us with bad intentions. That’s it,” Lukashenko said.
“I feel bad when I read reviews of the world’s media claiming various things about me,” he added. “They say that I might give an order to go into another country and this order will be fulfilled.”
Lukashenko was responding to Kiev - who had earlier claimed Belarus had deployed a “significant” number of troops along their shared border and demanded Minsk pulled them back.

“Let me be very clear: I'm unequivocal and unwavering in my commitment to Israel’s defense and its ability to defend itself, and that's not going to change,” Harris said.
Pro-Palestinian protesters and progressive Democrats have been calling on Harris to end arms sales to Israel over concerns America is complicit in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
When asked directly if she would withhold weapons shipments to Israel, she responded with a definitive "NO.”
Plus ça change.

🇫🇷🇳🇪 French nuclear giant slips into the red following Niger-French breakup
French nuclear giant Orano ended the first half of the year with a loss of €133 million, weighed down by difficulties in its mining activities in Niger due to a "highly degraded" political context since a military regime came to power a year ago.
The coup in Niger on 26 July last year led to a halt in imports of critical materials necessary for uranium exploitation in Orano's Somaïr mine, such as soda ash, carbonate, nitrates and sulphur.
And although uranium extraction continued in the first quarter of 2024 "after several months of early maintenance," Somaïr’s sales were unable to resume "due to a lack of logistics solutions approved by the Niger authorities".
In late June, Niger decided to withdraw the licence of Imouraren SA, a company jointly operated by Orano, Niger Mining and Korea Electric Power, and which ran the Somaïr mine.
The situation could eventually lead to "insolvency in the short to medium term, in the coming months", Claverie said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has filed a lawsuit against the US federal govt, alleging the creation and use of a “secret watchlist” targeting supporters of Palestinian activism.
"The lawsuit alleges that the Government has violated the Constitution by placing the two plaintiffs on secret watchlists for their protected and lawful speech and activity in favor of Palestine," Amr Shabaik, CAIR's legal director said.
The legal action contends that the FBI created these watchlists without statutory authority and that individuals are placed on them without due process.
