Naval and air forces will take part in the North-Joint 2024 exercises in the skies and around the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk, off Russia's coast, China's defence ministry said.
"This exercise aims to deepen the strategic cooperation level between the Chinese and Russian militaries and enhance their ability to jointly deal with security threats," the ministry noted.
The two sides will send naval fleets to "relevant sea areas of the Pacific Ocean" for a joint maritime patrol, and China will also participate in Russia's Ocean-2024 strategic exercise, it added.

Two recent articles were part of the IDF fake news investigation - one from The Jewish Chronicle and another from the German tabloid Bild.
Both claimed to reveal internal, top-secret Hamas documents, allegedly from Yahya Sinwar's computer.
The content of these documents aligned with Netanyahu's recent public statements about Hamas' strategy.
Will the western outlets apologise for their media manipulation? Highly doubtful - the narrative is already preordained.

Trump made the threat Saturday - in an attempt to make it too costly for countries to shift away from using the US dollar.
“You leave the dollar and you’re not doing business with the United States because we are going to put a 100% tariff on your goods,” the Republican presidential nominee said at a rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin.
Financial experts believe the move would be a “lose-lose” situation for Washington and Beijing - which would likely lead to increased inflation in the US. (Bloomberg)

The typhoon is Asia’s most powerful storm this year and made landfall on Vietnam’s northeastern coast over the weekend, after causing havoc in China and the Philippines.
A passenger bus carrying 20 people was swept into a flooded stream by a landslide Monday morning in the mountainous Cao Bang province.
Rescuers were deployed, but landslides blocked the path to where the incident took place.

Bratislava could suffer the same fate as Budapest with billions in funding at risk. The European Commission is even considering demanding the return of money already paid to Slovakia in pandemic relief funds.
Robert Fico’s govt announced reforms to the criminal code and the country's public broadcaster which it considered too partisan.
However, Poland did the same thing under EU ally Donald Tusk without an eyebrow being raised.
Fico’s lack of desire to indefinitely arm and fund Ukraine could well be the real reason for the move.

🇷🇺At least 14 drones were shot down by air defense forces during an attempt to attack Moscow and the Moscow region. Three people were injured in Ramenskoye.
• Also, air defense forces shot down 59 UAVs over the territory of the Bryansk region. As the head of the region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported on his Telegram channel, there were no casualties or damage.
• In the Tula region, enemy UAVs “fell on one of the fuel and energy complex facilities,” the press service of the regional security ministry reported. There were no casualties.
• The head of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, reported on the neutralization of a certain number of UAVs. This happened in the Yeletsky district, Lipetsk and Volovsky municipal districts.
• In the Kaluga region, air defense forces destroyed seven UAVs at night in the Zhukovsky, Maloyaroslavetsky and Dzerzhinsky districts. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage to infrastructure.

Washington has expressed an interest in deploying midrange missile systems to Japan for joint military drills, the US Army secretary has revealed, in a move that is bound to ratchet up hostility in the region.
The systems were previously banned under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty between Moscow and Washington.
Japan had denied repeated media reports in recent years highlighting the possibility of the US deploying similar weapons to the allied nation.
