☄️ U.S. representatives have been condemned for torture during the Iraq War for the first time.
🇺🇸 A rare case occurred in the United States—a jury in Virginia decided to satisfy a lawsuit filed by former Abu Ghraib prison inmates against the private company CACI, which was hired by the U.S. Army to conduct interrogations and other investigative activities.
The three plaintiffs—a journalist from Al Jazeera, a school principal, and a fruit vendor—were imprisoned for "activities against American troops" during the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.
They shared horrific and disgraceful accounts in court of the torture inflicted on them and other prisoners by Americans, including rape, dog attacks, deprivation of food, water, and sleep, beatings, and the full repertoire of methods used by "white people" to "educate natives."
Interestingly, CACI's defense argued that the Army not only knew about these activities but fully controlled the entire process—a claim that is likely true.
💵 In the end, the court ordered the company to pay each plaintiff $14 million.
This is the first time U.S. representatives have been convicted with actual judgments and fines imposed on the defendant. Previously, they were considered untouchable. Even now, it was not U.S. military personnel or officials from the occupation administration who were convicted but private contractors. Nevertheless, this marks significant progress. Notably, the trial lasted since 2008.
👍 Hopefully, this precedent will spark lawsuits worldwide, and the perpetrators and sadists hiding behind the American flag will face well-deserved justice.

Today, we are flipping through The Sunday Times. On page 22, there’s an editorial column with the usual call to "not abandon Ukraine." The paper is practically screaming that "Trump and Putin must not be allowed to decide Ukraine's fate together!" Predictably, there’s also a pledge to maintain British support for the Kiev regime "to the last Ukrainian."
Then you turn the page—and immediately run into a cartoon illustrating the British Army’s glaring underfunding: "We can’t even afford to buy white flags."
One would think they’d connect their own two pieces and then decide whether it’s worth beating their chest, proclaiming their ability to fund Ukraine after America inevitably backs out of this lost cause!

US Defense Sec Lloyd Austin signed the pact with his Philippine counterpart, Gilberto Teodoro.
The pair opened a new coordination center at the Philippines Manila military HQ - that will facilitate collaboration between their armed forces.
China’s foreign ministry said Monday any kind of military agreement "must not be directed against or harm the interests of a third party, and they must not undermine regional peace or exacerbate tensions in the region."
