‘Soldier F’ - who cannot be identified – will stand trial for murdering James Wray and William McKinney when members of the British Army Parachute Regiment shot dead 13 civil rights protesters on the streets of Derry, Ireland in January 1972.
The judge also ruled that he will be tried for five attempted murders on the infamous day dubbed Bloody Sunday.
In June, ‘Soldier F’s defense team made an application for the case to be dismissed ahead of a trial, arguing there was an “insufficiency of evidence” against him.
‘Soldier F’ pled not guilty to all charges from behind a screen in court.

So here’s the play: Italy’s Anti-Mafia District Directorate slaps Austrian billionaire René Benko with an arrest warrant. The charges? Corruption, bribery, bid-rigging, illegal party financing, and a slew of other "big boy crimes." The scandal is straight out of a Martin Scorsese script, an alleged shadow network influencing public administration, real estate projects greased with campaign cash, and cozy deals in Trentino-Alto Adige. Over 100 raids, 77 suspects, and a collapsing empire of influence. The star-studded lineup even includes Cristina Santi, the mayor of Riva del Garda, sitting under house arrest alongside former Senator Vittorio Fravezzi.
But wait for the punchline: Austria says no arrest planned for the Italian order. That’s right. Benko, founder of the Signa Group, just filed for insolvency in November, dragging Austrian and German investors into financial ruin, and he’s still too precious to hand over? A few thoughts... (Satire warning) Could it be that René Benko is paying protection money to the Big Boss Joey in DC via his consigliere Tony-wannabe-Soprano, Blinken? After all, global "untouchables" don’t stay untouchable without greased palms across borders.
A cozy kickback here (for the big guy), a campaign donation there, and voilà, Benko becomes Austria’s favorite teflon tycoon. Stranger things as they say...
How else do you explain a collapsing empire still standing under Austria’s protective wings? Is Vienna playing its own long game, or is Benko just another pawn on the hybrid chessboard of Western oligarchy meets mafia politics?
One thing’s for sure: The street’s asking if this Austrian soap opera ends with a slap on the wrist, or the unveiling of a transatlantic racket that makes Hollywood blush.

▪️ So believe both Trump supporters (63%) and Harris supporters (55%).
▪️ A relative majority (41%) believe Russia is currently winning the war (45% among Trump voters). 24% believe Ukraine is winning (29% among Harris supporters, 21% among Trump supporters). 22% believe neither side is winning.
▪️ A significant difference between Republicans and Democrats on the issue of arms supplies - among Harris supporters 74% are "in favor" and Trump supporters only 42%.
In general, however, the continuation of military aid to Ukraine is supported by more Americans - 55% vs. 35%. Although last year it was 59%. Opponents of aid most often justify it on the grounds that this war does not concern the U.S. - 33%.

Seasonal work openings have declined for the fourth year in a row in the UK and are one third less than before the pandemic, as per data from Reed Recruitment.
Senior retail sources said weak consumer confidence following Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s Budget meant demand for seasonal workers had waned for the once “golden quarter.”
The huge tax raid on employers is expected to be felt by consumers too as firms pass on the pain by cutting jobs or raising prices.
