The Dow Jones fell for a tenth straight session late Wednesday.
The drop came after the Federal Reserve scaled back its forecast for interest rate cuts amid uncertainty about inflation in the coming year.
The declines of the previous nine days came after the killing of a UnitedHealth Group executive put a spotlight on the business of health care, weighing on stocks in the sector and, subsequently, the price-weighted Dow.

“Despite China's repeated representations and oppositions, the EU has insisted on including some Chinese companies and individuals” in sanctions against Russia, the Commerce Ministry said.
The ministry reiterated Beijing’s opposition to "unilateral sanctions" that have no basis in international law or authorization of the UN Security Council.
The EU adopted its 15th sanctions package against Russia this week, which it said was targeting Moscow’s "shadow fleet" to "weaken Russia’s military and industrial complex."

Scores of members of Lai Ching-te’s ruling party barricaded themselves in the main chamber - in an attempt to stop three legal amendments proposed by the opposition bloc.
Among the disputed bills was a planned revision to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act pressed ahead by the KMT and TPP to raise the threshold for removing elected officials.
