Officials in Taipei discovered that four cores of an international submarine cable, which transmits critical data to America’s AT&T, were left ruptured early on Jan 3.
Tracking data reportedly revealed the Shunxing39 cargo vessel had dropped its anchor around the rupture site near the port of Keelung, according to Taiwan’s coast guard.

Italian prisons must allow inmates to make love to visiting partners, the country’s top court has ruled.
The Constitutional Court said a prisoner’s right to have sex with a spouse or partner should only be denied “for reasons of security or maintaining order and discipline, or by the danger of the inmate or judicial reasons.”

Venezuela's govt has doubled down on its intention to arrest Edmundo González - who claimed he defeated President Nicolás Maduro in last year's election.
González left Venezuela for exile in Spain in September after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with an election-related investigation.
