They paint themselves as the saviors, the heroes in a crusade against patent trolls. COPA, that righteous knight charging into battle, claims to protect the industry from the vultures who swoop in to snap up patents and choke the life out of innovation.
But you look closer, and you start to see the cracks in the story. Patent trolls—they’re the scavengers, buying up patents to use them like a knife in a back alley, cutting down anyone who dares to innovate without paying their tribute. They snatch up the rights to ideas, not to build, but to bleed.
And then there's COPA. They tell you they’re different. They say they fight those trolls. But when you strip away the PR, what do you find?
It's the same game, different players. COPA’s members—Coinbase, Block, Meta—they buy patents too, piling them up like gold bars in a vault. It’s all about control. They claim it’s for protection, but it smells like the same old tactic: squash the competition, make the rules, and keep the keys to the kingdom.
Here’s a taste of the patents they've got stacked up:
1. Patent 12033144: Improved indexing of custom smart contracts—see it for yourself: patents.justia.com/patent/12033144.
2. Patent 12014361: Systems for better hot wallet security. No secrets here, just control: patents.justia.com/patent/12014361.
3. Patent 11997216: A system for indexing blockchain operations, all wrapped up in a nice little package: patents.justia.com/patent/11997216.
4. Patent 11989166: Processing queries through indexed blockchain data. Cutting down on the wait, but at what cost? patents.justia.com/patent/11989166.
5. Patent 11989722: A method for generating omnibus addresses for cryptocurrency transactions. More control, more locks: patents.justia.com/patent/11989722.
6. Patent 11971878: Handling both batch processing and streaming blockchain data—see it laid out here: patents.justia.com/patent/11971878.
They’re quick to wave the banner of "open innovation," but the playbook reads like a patent troll’s, just dressed up in cleaner clothes. It’s about power, not principles, and when you see them closing doors for others while they keep their own open, you have to ask yourself: who's really the troll here?

US Patent for Systems and methods for improved indexing of non-standardized, custom smart contracts Patent (Patent # 12,033,144…
Methods and systems for improved indexing of non-standardized, custom smart contracts. The improved indexer identifies custom landmarks (e.g., portions of bytecode indicative of custom smart contract transactions or particular functions in those transactions)…

Let’s not mince words here.
All these arguments about money forming out of barter are complete nonsense, peddled by people who pretend to understand history but clearly don’t.
They speak with such confidence about ancient economies as if they’ve uncovered some grand truth, yet they offer no real historical evidence.
It’s a myth—just a convenient story they spin to justify their ideologies.
The fact is, there’s no empirical validation for the idea that societies went from barter to a universally accepted medium of exchange in a straight line. Real societies, historically, relied on credit systems, social debts, and obligations long before they ever minted coins. They didn’t trade cows for chickens. This fairy tale of barter-based economies has been debunked repeatedly by serious historians and anthropologists, but that doesn’t stop these pseudo-economists from repeating the same tired clichés.
They love to ramble about “primitive barter” because it fits neatly into their narrative, not because it’s true.
And the tragedy is, people believe this garbage because it’s delivered with unwavering conviction, as if conviction could somehow replace facts. It’s all about presenting ideology as if it were history. They twist the narrative until it suits their purposes, and then expect the rest of us to swallow it whole.
But conviction without evidence is just empty rhetoric—it’s a smokescreen to hide the lack of substance.

It is curious to claim that Bitcoin would make the IMF obsolete, considering Bitcoin offers no mechanism for loans or economic aid.
Loans are fundamental to growth and enterprise. If you wish to build, to create, to produce, you require capital—and capital must flow. Bitcoin, by its very nature, remains static in the hands of those who hold it. It does not produce, it does not lend, it does not build. It is merely there, a silent, volatile asset whose value fluctuates at the whim of the market.
How can one argue that Bitcoin is a store of value when its value, in itself, is unstable?
What is a store of value that cannot remain consistent, cannot be relied upon in moments of crisis?
And if we examine it as a means of exchange, what do we find?
We find delays, fees, and volatility. The very qualities that make an exchange mechanism efficient—stability, speed, reliability—are absent.
It is not a tool for builders or creators, nor is it a tool for the world's entrepreneurs to expand the reach of their minds. Bitcoin, then, does not challenge the IMF—it doesn’t even compete with the fundamental needs of human production.
It sits, stagnant, while the world moves around it.
And to claim this as freedom is to misunderstand the essence of what it means to create value.

No produce, no presta, no construye.
Encontramos demoras, tarifas y volatilidad.

No produce, no presta, no construye.

Bitcoin was conceived as a system immutable by design—a protocol “set in stone,” as its creator asserted.
This was the very essence of its strength: a system where the rules, once defined, could not be bent or reshaped by the whims of those in power.
Satoshi Nakamoto envisioned a world where the integrity of the protocol would remain untarnished, immune to the encroachments of those who sought to distort its nature. Yet, what transpired was the very betrayal of this immutable principle.
Gavin Andresen, the man whom Satoshi entrusted as a steward, was supposed to be the guardian of this vision.
He was chosen not to change Bitcoin, but to protect its essence—to ensure that what had been crafted would endure. But the forces of subversion emerged, cloaked in false virtues of progress and decentralisation, as they orchestrated his ousting.
The same people whom Gavin had trusted turned their backs, wielding power not through merit or respect but through subterfuge, usurping his role and thrusting the original principles aside.
And thus, the User-Activated Soft Fork (UASF) arose—a disingenuous farce.
It was not the voice of the people, nor a democratic expression of consensus.
nstead, it was the cacophony of manufactured voices—Sybil nodes, hollow echoes created to fabricate a majority.
In a system where proof-of-work should have safeguarded against such manipulation, the process was contorted into a theatre of deception.
Sybil attacks, the very threats Bitcoin’s architecture sought to repel, were welcomed into the fold, turning the principles of trust and proof on their head.
The most galling deceit came from a minority, a coalition of ideologues who rejected the principles of transparency and honesty.
They sought to warp Bitcoin from a private yet open system into something shrouded in shadows.
Anonymity became their rallying cry—not to protect the individual but to obscure their own agenda.
They lied, they deceived, they sold a narrative to the world—a narrative that would have the masses believe that this was the way Bitcoin had always been intended. But this was not Bitcoin’s story; it was a tale woven to serve their ambition.

Let me pose a question to all the advocates of hyper-Bitcoinization, particularly those who stand behind BTC. I welcome you to prove me wrong, to demonstrate just how much more you claim to know.
The reality is simple: BTC processes only 3 transactions per second, and that number is quite rigid.
The proponents of the Lightning Network tell us that this is the solution to scalability, yet empirical evidence shows it doesn't work.
It hasn't scaled, and the technical limitations are starkly clear. Despite claims to the contrary, Lightning does not hold up to scrutiny in practice, and no miracle technical solution is on the horizon to alter this fact.
So, given that BTC cannot handle a meaningful volume of transactions, how does one justify a vision where Bitcoin suddenly scales to billions of transactions per second?
Now, let’s consider the basic mathematics, which I will work through in the background. Let’s assume there are 8 billion people on this earth.
If we conservatively estimate that the average person makes between 3 and 5 transactions per day—whether buying food, paying bills, or simply engaging in everyday commerce—that leaves us with an astronomical figure for the number of transactions that must be processed globally each year.
The capacity required would far exceed the limitations of BTC’s current infrastructure.
Even if we put aside the practical constraints and imagine this so-called hyper-Bitcoinization world where every individual on the planet adopts BTC, the network couldn’t possibly keep pace with this level of demand.
It is not a matter of ideology; it’s a matter of mathematics and technology.
This leaves us with the following question: How do you, as a BTC proponent, explain this scenario, where your system cannot accommodate the necessary transaction volume? How do you reconcile this clear limitation with the vision of a world where Bitcoin replaces traditional financial systems and handles billions of transactions per second?
I invite you to engage with these realities, not with rhetoric or wishful thinking, but with substance.
I assert that the concept of hyper-Bitcoinization in its BTC form is untenable, not least because Bitcoin, in this sense, isn’t Bitcoin.
Rather, it’s a backwards vision where middlemen and centralised layers like Lightning are required to keep the system functional, which contradicts the very foundations on which Bitcoin was built.
So, prove me wrong—show me how BTC could handle this volume. Explain to me why this vision of hyper-Bitcoinization isn’t merely a fantasy, a fiction that is fundamentally incompatible with the technology as it stands today.

The logical fallacies in this post are glaring. First, the idea of building mesh and ham radio networks for communication seems rooted in a misunderstanding of resilience. Bitcoin, using SPV and IP2IP, allows direct, secure communication between two individuals without needing nodes or complex networks. The very premise of routing paths scattered across a mesh network introduces vulnerabilities and kills privacy. It’s inefficient and unnecessary.
This whole project feels like a distraction, a boondoggle that ignores the core of Bitcoin’s design. If people bothered to read and understand the white paper, they’d realise the simplicity of SPV—direct connections, without the need for all this convoluted nonsense. What they’re doing is overengineering a problem that was already solved. Stop wasting time on mesh fantasies and focus on the real, working solutions Bitcoin already provides.
