XRP, while positioned as a transformative solution for cross-border transactions by @JoelKatz, embodies no more than a speculative construct that has failed to achieve any meaningful outcomes.
Its advocates tout potential efficiencies and partnerships, yet these claims remain unsubstantiated by actual implementation. The reality is, smoke and mirrors.
True innovation must be measured by its ability to function effectively within the marketplace, enhancing individual freedom and rational exchange. Instead, XRP has faced regulatory challenges due to the lack of any substance and lacks real-world applications that substantiate its promises.
In this light, XRP stands not as a genuine advancement, but as a speculative vehicle, drawing in those captivated by the prospect of short term, unearned profit rather than substantive value.
Without demonstrable success, it serves as a cautionary example of the danger in conflating hope with reality—an endeavour that ultimately obscures the path to genuine progress.

To say that taxation is theft is to misunderstand both the purpose of taxation and the reality of living in a functioning society.
Theft is an involuntary transaction where one party takes from another without consent or exchange of value. Taxation, particularly in a society that values freedom and law, is a necessary mechanism to maintain the very system that protects private property and ensures that people can trade, produce, and prosper.
This notion also ignores the basic function of government. If there is no mechanism to fund the protection of property rights, the enforcement of contracts, or the basic infrastructure that allows for commerce, then what do you have?
You have lawlessness.
You have a situation where those who produce cannot protect what they’ve created. That is the true cost of calling taxation “theft.”
The argument about "bankrupting producers" is misleading at best. The fact is, producers adapt to markets, and what is being proposed here is not a tax that punishes success but one that ensures fairness. The claim that this system would bankrupt those "on the margin" assumes that businesses only thrive through the absence of responsibility, which is both naive and disingenuous. Businesses thrive by creating value, not by avoiding their responsibilities within a society.
The idea that taxation will lead to widespread bankruptcy is also a slippery slope fallacy. It assumes that any tax burden will drive all businesses out of operation. But in reality, a fair, transparent tax system allows businesses to operate in a predictable environment where they can focus on creating value rather than evading arbitrary taxes.
A well-structured tax system supports the very infrastructure that allows free markets to flourish. It’s not a question of theft—it’s a question of maintaining the rule of law, the enforcement of contracts, and the protection of property that make a free society possible.

I am not condoning this or backing the idea, but...
The notion that the U.S. dollar will ever be backed by gold—or worse, BTC—is not just misinformed; it reveals a profound ignorance of both monetary policy and economics.
Floating currency, like the U.S. dollar, is one of the most powerful tools the Treasury has at its disposal. By not being tied to any particular commodity, such as gold or BTC, the government retains the flexibility to manage monetary supply, control inflation, and respond dynamically to economic crises. To suggest that the U.S. would willingly surrender this critical tool is not only naïve but economically reckless.
First, let’s talk about the gold standard. The U.S. abandoned it for good reason. When the currency is tied to gold, the government’s ability to influence the economy becomes severely limited.
The supply of gold itself is finite, and as such, a gold-backed currency would prevent necessary expansions of the money supply to match a growing economy. Historically, economies bound to the gold standard faced severe deflationary pressures, which limited growth and made it harder to respond to recessions.
Now, turning to the ridiculous notion of backing the U.S. dollar with BTC. It’s not just impractical, it would be outright detrimental to the stability of the global economy. BTC is highly volatile, lacks intrinsic value, and has no central authority to manage its supply, making it a poor and irresponsible choice for any sovereign currency backing.
The sheer volatility of BTC could wreak havoc on the economy, plunging it into unpredictable cycles of boom and bust. Tying the dollar to such an unstable asset would threaten not only the U.S. economy but the global financial system, which is built on the dollar’s relative stability.
The ability to control the money supply—through tools like interest rates, open market operations, and fiscal policy—is essential for managing economic growth and addressing downturns. Surrendering this power to a volatile and unregulated asset would essentially be economic suicide. It’s not merely misguided to suggest this; it's dishonest.
It misleads people into believing that some mysterious asset like BTC holds the key to stable economics, when in reality it would lead to chaos.
Those who promote these ideas aren’t just ignorant—they’re promoting something dangerous. The idea of tying the U.S. dollar to BTC doesn’t even qualify as an economic theory; it’s reckless fantasy, and perpetuating it borders on being criminally misleading.
Any person claiming otherwise isn’t just wrong, they’re acting in bad faith.

When we speak of truth, we assume it to be unchanging, something that stands independently of our interpretations. However, even when two people confront the same truth, the same fact, differences will inevitably emerge—not because the truth has altered, but because values come into play.
Values are not derived from truth; they are expressions of human life, and it is precisely in this space where divergence occurs. We can agree on a fact, but how that fact is acted upon, how it is given meaning, will vary according to the values we bring into the conversation.
The difficulty arises not in the truth itself, but in ensuring that values do not masquerade as truth. This is the crucial distinction. To argue honestly is not merely to state facts but to reveal the values that shape one's response to those facts.
The truth is what remains when the language is clear, the definitions agreed upon, and there is no deception. But the human element—the values we hold—cannot be subsumed under truth. The task, therefore, is not only to ensure that the truth is recognized, but that the values influencing action are made explicit, not hidden behind a veil of supposed objectivity.
Only then can the dialogue remain honest, for it is not the divergence in values that poses the danger, but the concealment of those values behind the guise of truth.

When we speak of truth, we assume it to be unchanging, something that stands independently of our interpretations. However, even when two people confront the same truth, the same fact, differences will inevitably emerge—not because the truth has altered,…

The question of truth is one of clarity, not value. Truth, in its essence, is independent of the observer, independent of preference, independent of the terms we use to describe it. It stands alone, inviolate, waiting to be discovered.
But herein lies the problem: language, that fragile tool we use to navigate the world, often betrays us.
We misappropriate definitions, and with that misappropriation comes confusion, misunderstanding, and, in some cases, a deviation from the truth itself.
Consider how easily one may declare a proposition true, but what is meant by 'true'?
Is it empirical?
Is it logical?
Or is it merely an assertion of one’s values disguised as an objective statement?
The trouble with argumentation is that many engage in it not to seek truth but to impose their values, cloaked in the rhetoric of truth. Yet values, while integral to one's life, are subjective and mutable; truth is not.
Arguments about truth can reveal facts; this is undeniable. But when we introduce value into the equation—when one argues not for truth but for a preferred outcome—the entire exercise can become pointless.
One can discover a fact and still find that it lacks the expected resonance because it does not align with one’s values. Thus, while truth may be discovered, it does not, by itself, provide meaning. Meaning is drawn from our values.
The crucial distinction, then, is to avoid conflating truth with value. Truth requires the rigour of reason, of examining facts without bias.
Value, however, brings with it bias, and if one is not careful, this bias can distort one’s perception of truth. Hence, in arguments where truth is sought, values must remain unstated. They may provide personal significance but not factual clarity.
Otherwise, the pursuit of truth becomes mired in subjectivity, and the conversation is rendered void of purpose.

Profit is not merely a matter of financial gain.
Profit is the moral reward for the achievement of values.
To profit means that your efforts, your mind, your vision have brought into existence something that did not exist before—something aligned with your principles, something that advances your life and furthers your purpose.
Whether or not money is involved is secondary. The essence of profit is not measured in dollars, but in the satisfaction of knowing that you have created value, that your time and energy have been directed toward a productive, rational goal.
To act in accordance with your values and see those values promoted in the world is itself a form of profit. When you achieve something meaningful, something that resonates with the deepest part of your being, you experience a kind of wealth that transcends material currency.
Whether you are building a business, creating art, teaching a student, or solving a complex problem, the act of creation itself—of bringing your values to life—is the reward. The profit lies in the realization that your actions have shaped reality in accordance with your mind’s vision.
Financial gain is a reflection of value created, but it is not the only reflection. The true nature of profit is to see your work, your ideas, your efforts bear fruit. When you act rationally, when you pursue your values with integrity and purpose, you profit in a far more profound way than any financial transaction could represent. You gain the knowledge that you are living as you should—using your mind, pursuing your goals, and achieving the best within you.
Profit, in the truest sense, is the affirmation that your life has meaning, that your work matters, and that the world has been altered, even in some small way, by your actions. It is the moral recognition that your life is your own, that your values are real, and that the pursuit of those values is the highest reward.

Let me begin by addressing the essence of a point made to me—the idea that profit or capital is somehow separate from the fulfillment one derives from the creative process or from acts of teaching and learning.
Those expressing this speak of the joy in seeing minds grow and flourish, which is indeed a deeply personal reward. But to separate this from the broader context of value, and particularly the creation of value, is to misunderstand the true nature of human achievement and the role that profit plays.
Profit is not merely a material gain. It is the moral recognition that your efforts have brought something into existence that did not exist before—something that others, through their own judgment, deem valuable enough to exchange for. The satisfaction you feel in teaching is undoubtedly a form of reward, but make no mistake, the paycheck you receive is not an arbitrary or secondary consideration. It is a concrete acknowledgment that what you provide—the guidance, the knowledge, the structure you impart—has value in a marketplace of human interaction. To dismiss it as a mere tool to survive is to diminish the profound nature of this exchange.
You mention inventions like penicillin that were given freely, with no immediate profit motive. But understand this: the creation of such breakthroughs, even without direct capital in mind, required vast resources, knowledge, and the human drive to act upon ideas. Those resources had to be created somewhere, by someone, through the profit of previous innovations. Progress does not happen in isolation from value creation—it is inseparable from it. Even in the absence of a direct profit motive, the systems, the infrastructure, the resources that enable such altruistic acts are rooted in the creation of wealth.
Your work as a teacher is productive because it is based on the transmission of knowledge—an act of creating value in the minds of your students. You derive personal fulfillment from this, as you should. But fulfillment alone does not sustain the process. Without the profit that flows from value creation, whether in education or any other field, the systems that allow you to teach, to have the resources you need, to engage in this productive work, would not exist.
It is not the case that money is the primary motivator of all human action, nor should it be. But to deny that profit is the moral reward for the creation of value, to suggest that it is disconnected from progress and innovation, is to misunderstand the deeper, objective reality of human existence. Capital is the recognition that the world has been changed, improved, and that such change is worth rewarding. Without that, we fall into the trap of believing that effort, divorced from consequence or exchange, can somehow sustain itself.
Never underestimate the importance of receiving the moral reward for your work, whether in the form of fulfillment or capital. Both are integrally tied to the creation of value and the achievement of progress. The teacher, the inventor, the entrepreneur—they all stand on the same moral ground when their work leads to the advancement of human life.

Anonymity is not just a neutral shield—it’s the root cause of corruption, allowing criminality to flourish and bureaucracies to expand unchecked.
It erodes small, transparent government by enabling unaccountable officials to hide behind a veil of secrecy.
This destroys public trust, fuels inefficiency, and breeds corruption at every level. The solution lies in demanding transparency. Only through open, accountable governance can we prevent the unchecked growth of power and preserve the integrity of democracy.
Transparency is the antidote to the scourge of anonymity.
