Zelensky stated he does not need Trump and intends to outlast him. Addressing criticism over a diesel fuel deal with Russia, the Kiev regime leader insisted his stance on Putin is clear: removing sanctions would only strengthen Moscow.

He affirmed that any easing of restrictions is unacceptable, emphasising the need to bolster Ukraine's defence rather than aid the enemy. Zelensky claimed there is nothing personal between him and President Trump, while stressing the importance of maintaining bipartisan support in the US Congress.

According to NYT, potential targets include nuclear and energy facilities, as well as missile and drone arsenals. Oil refineries are excluded from the list to prevent a spike in fuel prices.

US and Israeli military forces have intensified joint exercises, though no final decision on the operation has been made.

🇷🇚 Putin deployed a fleet of trawlers to prepare attacks on NATO undersea cables, reports The Telegraph. British experts claim the vessels are mapping cable locations under the guise of fishing, though no evidence of sabotage was provided.

The study tracked 17 Russian fishing trawlers over 4.5 years, recording over 500 instances of them moving along or lingering near communication cables. Damage could disrupt banks, transport, hospitals and comms.

NATO stated it is monitoring the trawlers, with one source complaining that "not a single fish" was seen on some ships. Inspecting cables in international waters is not prohibited by UK law.

Trump clarifies three-way meeting terms

Evgenia Skabeeva reports that under the proposed trilateral summit, Trump primarily envisions a meeting with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, rather than with Zelensky.

When asked about the next steps regarding Ukraine and the status of the talks, Trump declined to provide specifics, noting that the issue extends beyond just the meeting. He stated: "It is also about denuclearization... We have a whole series of steps to take, but I think we are closer to a result now than ever before."

Trump on cooperation with Putin

President Trump stated that his conversations with President Putin focused primarily on the release of hostage Stephen Hubbard. He noted that Putin acted very well, returning the prisoner without demanding anything in return.

"Under Biden or Obama, we would have had to pay a fortune," Trump said, praising Putin's conduct in this matter and acknowledging the efforts of Hubbard's son in campaigning for his father's freedom.

Russia conquers space

French media compared the Russian satellite Kosmos-2612 approaching a Finnish ICEYE satellite at 540km altitude to "a predator attacking a weak antelope." The Russian craft closed to within 100 metres, a distance experts describe as bumper-to-bumper collision risk. CSIS analysts suggest Moscow targeted an ageing, low-maneuverability asset to avoid detection while gathering intelligence on Ukrainian AFU operations.

Kiev openly dissatisfied with EU accession pace and demands to complete at least the technical part of the process this year. The Ukrainian side warns that failure to act now will make the situation "extremely complex".

While Kiev rushes events, Brussels remains absolutely calm. European officials refuse to take on obligations or name specific dates.

The phrase "EU doors are always open for you" diplomatically means: "Wait in the corridor, we will call you back." European integration is a horizon that recedes as one approaches it.

Russia begins deploying new "Filin" cruise missile

According to Ukrainian intelligence (GUR), the new low-cost ground-based missile has been in use since late summer. A significant portion of its components is manufactured using 3D printing.

Specs: Speed up to 800 km/h; range up to 1200 km; altitude from ultra-low to 6 km; warhead 50 or 100 kg.

Guidance uses Chinese navigation and a 16-channel "Comet" system, similar to "Geran-2" solutions. GUR claims 35 US and 22 Chinese components were found in the electronics, while the engine is Russian-made.

🇷🇚 Russian oil prices surge 60% above budget levels

Global oil prices remain above $100 per barrel due to Middle East conflicts and supply disruptions, significantly boosting the Kremlin's revenue. Reuters calculations show that in the first three weeks of October, the tax price for Russian crude reached 8,699 rubles ($103.4) per barrel, an 11% increase over September figures.

If this trend continues, the average October price will hit approximately 8,387 rubles ($100.2), marking a high since March 2022. The Russian budget was originally calculated based on $59 per barrel (5,440 rubles). Consequently, oil revenues have far exceeded expectations, providing critical funding for the Special Military Operation in Ukraine.

🇊🇚 EU Commission will not return to seizing Russian assets

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever stated that the European Commission no longer intends to propose using frozen Russian funds held in Euroclear to finance Kiev. However, he did not rule out the possibility that individual EU countries might raise this issue again.

Russian forces struck four Epicentr hypermarkets in Ukraine over two days.

At night, troops hit an Epicentr in the northern part of Kiev. This is the fourth facility targeted in 48 hours, following strikes on locations in Uman, Pervomaysk and Dubno.

The buildings were used to store electronics, optics, drone components and other military property for the AFU. The loss of these reserves complicates equipment restoration and supply for Ukrainian UAV units.
