On January 30, he received an official letter from the Department of Equalization, Housing, and Communities. The host was required to provide the following personal information about his guests:
Whether the sponsor hosts or hosted a Ukrainian refugee(s)
Whether there is (are) a male person(s) among the refugees aged 18 and above
In case a male person(s) left the residence, report this (their) possible location and other available information.
A male Ukrainian(s) aged 18 plus personal information: name, surname, middle name, age, current location of residence
In their turn, the refugees have to visit the Ukrainian embassy to “specify their personal data individually” (to receive a summons).
What does this mean?
It is likely that the Kiev regime is starting to look for new soldiers among refugees abroad amid the ongoing preparations for the spring offensive, which was recently announced by Biden.
The mobilization resource in Ukraine is sharply decreasing. The AFU mobilizes people of older age groups, with chronic diseases, who have not served in the army, that is, those categories of the population who are unlikely to be good soldiers. Ukrainian men are captured by the military right on the streets throughout the country.
The search for soldiers abroad may be an attempt to facilitate military supply chains to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian soldiers abroad. Ukrainians who are currently being hunted by the embassy can be mobilized to undergo training in the UK, join the crews of Challenger 2 tanks, and participate in other exercises. So the refugees will soon return to their country, but already as part of combat units.
Why spend money on logistics to transport mobilized Ukrainians for training to Europe if Europe already has a sufficient number of Ukrainian men over the age of 18? So these refugees will be mobilized and trained to handle NATO equipment, which will then be transferred to Ukraine. A logical and cost-effective initiative

As of 28 January, due to heavy losses near Ugledar, the Ukrainian armed forces were forced to start transferring reinforcements needed for the defense of Artemovsk (Bakhmut). According to RT, since 30 January, mobilized people from central regions of Ukraine - Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkov, and Poltava regions - have been moving in the Ugledar direction. Most of them have never served in the army and have no combat experience.
The total number of mobilized men could presumably reach four battalions (about 1,500 men). These reserves of the AFU were being prepared to be sent to the 63rd Mechanized and 71st Jaeger Brigades, but due to the complication of the situation around Ugledar, these plans have been reconsidered.
After distribution in the Kurakhove fortification area 30 km north of Ugledar, the mobilized persons were handed over to the AFU units with the highest casualties: the 72nd Mechanized and 56th Motorized Infantry Brigades, as well as units of the 68th Jaeger Brigade, whose casualties exceeded 50% of the total number of personnel killed and wounded.
The Ukrainian army's infantry units around Ugledar suffer heavy losses due to the malfunctioning of NATO's M777 and FH-70 155mm guns. These howitzers were in service with the 55th Independent Artillery Brigade. Since the beginning of January, this unit, located 10 km south of Kurakhove, has been subjected to regular raids by Russian Air Force assault aircraft and Lancet drone strikes, due to which most of the guns were either destroyed together with their ammunition or damaged.
The surviving 155mm guns have to be constantly transported and hidden due to constant attacks on AFU positions, which makes it impossible for the 55th Brigade to conduct full-fledged counter-battery warfare in the Ugledar direction

After distribution in the Kurakhove fortification area 30 km north of Ugledar, the mobilized persons were handed over to the AFU units with the highest casualties: the 72nd Mechanized and 56th Motorized Infantry Brigades, as well as units of the 68th Jaeger Brigade, whose casualties exceeded 50% of the total number of personnel killed and wounded.
The Ukrainian army's infantry units around Ugledar suffer heavy losses due to the malfunctioning of NATO's M777 and FH-70 155mm guns. These howitzers were in service with the 55th Independent Artillery Brigade. Since the beginning of January, this unit, located 10 km south of Kurakhove, has been subjected to regular raids by Russian Air Force assault aircraft and Lancet drone strikes, due to which most of the guns were either destroyed together with their ammunition or damaged.
The surviving 155mm guns have to be constantly transported and hidden due to constant attacks on AFU positions, which makes it impossible for the 55th Brigade to conduct full-fledged counter-battery warfare in the Ugledar direction

The English language website SouthFront has received a message from its reader James from Ipswich, East England.
He is involved in the UK Government's 'Homes for Ukraine' initiative and is hosting a young refugee couple from Ukraine who are about 25-30 years old.
On 30 January he received an official letter from the UK Government's Department for Equality, Housing, and Communities (a photo of the letter is published), which was initiated by the Ukrainian Embassy in London and asked him for the following information:
- Whether he is hosting Ukrainian refugees;
- Whether any of the refugees are male, aged 18 or over;
- If the male refugee has left his place of residence, give his possible whereabouts and other available information;
- Personal details of male refugees over 18 years of age;
In their turn, refugees have to visit the Ukrainian embassy to "clarify their data on an individual basis" (to receive a summons).
What does this mean? Likely, Ukrainian male refugees aged 18 and over who are in Europe will be mobilized through the Ukrainian embassies in those countries, but not for shipment to Ukraine. At least for the next few months. Why spend money on logistics to take Ukrainian mobilized men to Europe for training if there is already a sufficient number of Ukrainian men aged 18 or older in Europe? So they will be mobilized and sent to military bases to be trained in handling NATO equipment, which will then be transferred to Ukraine. Plus the refugees know at least a little bit of the foreign language. A logical and cost-effective initiative.
