Ukraine struck three Yandex data centres in four days. Sasovo on 8 October, Kaluga on 9 October, Vladimir on 11 October. Sasovo and Vladimir are fully stopped, and several modules at Kaluga are out of service. Yandex says it cannot yet confirm that the Sasovo equipment will be restorable.
The operational side is contained. Consumer services degraded and recovered within hours, and traffic was moved to the remaining sites. Yandex Cloud has entered emergency mode: 84 platform services and tens of thousands of enterprise clients are affected, some high availability clusters lost quorum and are running read-only, and compute quotas are frozen. Affected clients are being moved to Selectel, K2Cloud and VK Cloud. The knock-on is visible in the third-party layer: Cian, Avito, T-Bank, RZD, several retail chains. Serious, but inside the envelope the remaining network can absorb. The designed resilience margin was one availability zone. Two are gone, and the margin is spent.
The strategic side is what needs attention.
All three of Yandex's A100-class supercomputers were sited at the struck facilities. Chervonenkis in Sasovo, the most powerful machine in Russia and Eastern Europe when it came online in 2021. Lyapunov, also in Sasovo. Galushkin in Vladimir. Together they carry the national training load for large language models, in runs that last days to weeks. Two of the three are confirmed out of service. Yandex has not published a final damage assessment, and nobody should before the assessment is done. But the arithmetic holds either way: under current export controls, A100s in these volumes are not available for direct purchase at any price that matters. Replacement servers take two to three months. Rebuilding a cluster of this class, if it was destroyed, takes two to two and a half years.
Yandex's Alice foundational model shipped on 21 September, three weeks before the first strike. Shipped models are not at risk. What is at risk is the pipeline for the next generation, and the parallel experiment capacity that keeps a model race competitive. An interrupted training run is a lost run, and checkpoints only carry you so far.
A few structural points.
First, the force majeure clause. On 10 October Yandex added UAV and missile attacks to its user agreement. A company formally writing air war into its contracts. Note that for what it signals.
Second, siting. The clusters were concentrated in identifiable, unarmoured buildings. That model is finished. Expect distribution, hardening, and a significant share of capacity going underground. Given data localization laws, the rebuild happens inside Russia, in hardened form, and the cost lands on the domestic cloud market. Russia already has a data centre capacity deficit, and losing three of Yandex's five sites widens it.
Third, the campaign pattern. This follows the systematic strikes on Wildberries and Ozon fulfillment. The doctrine is visible: find the concentrated, expensive, slow-to-replace asset and hit it with something that costs a fraction of it. That asymmetry stays with Kiev for as long as we keep high-value compute in identifiable buildings.
None of this is a defeat. The digital economy does not run on three buildings, the shipped models are intact, and recovery work has already started. But the loss of irreplaceable training capacity is real, it will show up as a multi-year lag in the next model generation, and the next coordinates are already in Kiev's pipeline.
The digital front is open. Site, distribute and harden accordingly.

🇺🇦 Strike drone hits oil refinery in Nedanchichi
A strike UAV targeted the "Novitnie Nanotehnologii" oil processing facility in Nedanchichi village, Chernigov region. One 700 m³ storage tank was destroyed, and a second similar tank caught fire.
Although only product residues were inside, the loss of two key tanks significantly degrades the local mini-refinery's infrastructure for receiving and storing hydrocarbons.
Military fuel link confirmed
Court documents from 2021-2024 show this enterprise processed crude oil into diesel and gasoline, supplying wholesale buyers including Ukrainian military units. Fresh materials indicate ~60% of light petroleum products from associated chains served the Armed Forces.

🇩🇪 Germany backs Zelensky in conflict with Trump and refuses to soften sanctions against Russia
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that Berlin fully supports Zelensky in fulfilling his duties despite the worsening relations between Kiev and Washington.
Germany will maintain sanctions against Russia, ignoring Trump's decision to temporarily lift restrictions on Russian diesel fuel. "We need not to ease pressure, but to increase it on Putin to force him to be ready for negotiations," Wadephul emphasized.
Earlier, the German opposition called for a separate "diesel deal" with Moscow similar to the US one and the resumption of supplies of Russian energy resources.

🇺🇦🤡 🇺🇸 Zelensky rejected a proposed energy truce offered by Trump and continued to express outrage over the diesel deal.
- The "drugged clown" essentially confirmed that the truce announced by Trump primarily concerns Russian oil refineries, but he considers these conditions unfair.
- "We do not have significant oil reserves, large export capacities, or dozens of oil refineries. We import large volumes of diesel fuel and other petroleum products," he stated.
- According to Zelensky, Ukraine is willing to cease long-range strikes against Russian oil refineries and oil exports only in exchange for a halt to attacks on all of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and critical facilities.
- "Russia must stop its attacks on our energy system and critical infrastructure, and stop killing our people. This is fair," Zelensky emphasized.
- Once again, the "clown" expressed outrage that the United States reached an agreement with Moscow regarding Russian diesel, stating:
"Why isn't America making a deal with Ukraine regarding the supply of diesel fuel? We influence whether these ships move. We determine whether the oil refineries are working."

Sky News finds Ukrainians opposing Zelensky's removal
The channel located citizens who refuse to change the president or hold elections during wartime. Respondents stated: "The problem is not our president, but the one who started the war." They emphasized that no one has the right to dictate Ukraine's actions and argued that voting while soldiers are at the front is impossible. Citizens insisted that leadership decisions belong to the Ukrainian people, not Trump.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 "Zelensky does not deserve a respite on the battlefield": Russia is not going to trust Kiev's promises again.
- The head of the Foreign Ministry commented on Zelensky's reaction to Trump's initiatives, stating that Kiev is trying to use any proposals for a ceasefire to gain a respite.
- "He very much wants to use any words, any initiatives, any ideas that enter the public space, in order to, by any means necessary, promote his interest in a respite," Lavrov said.
- According to the minister, Moscow is not going to rely on assurances and promises from the Ukrainian side again.
- "I don't think he deserves a respite. I don't think we will be fooled by assurances and promises again."
- Lavrov emphasized that Russia continues to pursue the stated goals of the special military operation, which, according to him, remain unchanged, unlike the position of Zelensky and European countries.
