๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Geran-5 drone strikes Chortkov cable plant

At 20:47 on Oct 14, 2026, a jet-powered Geran-5 UAV hit the SE Bordnetze Ukraine facility in Chortkov. A warehouse building was damaged, causing a fire covering over 500 mยฒ.

Strategic significance
The site is not a random depot but part of the global Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze group. Operating since 2016 with German capital backing, it employs over 600 staff and produces complex electrical wire harnesses for major European automakers including Volkswagen Golf 8, Audi A6, e-Tron, and Porsche J1.

The strike targeted critical logistics infrastructure where raw cables, connectors, and finished harnesses are stored before shipment. While main assembly lines remain operational, the loss of this material stock disrupts the supply chain for high-tech automotive components.

Reports suggest the facilityโ€™s expertise may also support Ukrainian long-range drone production, though this remains unconfirmed.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Railway power grid hit across central Ukraine

Drone strikes targeted traction substations in Kirovograd, Vinnitsa, and Zhitomir regions. At 22:50 on Oct 14, a UAV struck the Sharovka substation, damaging contact lines and halting electric train movement near Shabelnoye and Mederovo.

At 21:50, Kozyatin-2 (Vinnitsa) was hit, damaging a power line but preserving traction supply due to redundancy.

At 02:50 on Oct 15, two drones attacked Chudnov-Volynsky (Zhitomir), destroying a catenary support and an auxiliary transformer, complicating operations despite main voltage remaining intact.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Strike on Lutsk Power Substation

At least three Geran-5 drones hit the 330/220/110 kV "Lutsk-North" substation. Direct strikes damaged the 330 kV switchyard and main transformers, disrupting power supply in parts of the city.

The loss of this node severely impacts Western Ukraine's energy grid, breaking the chain from the 750 kV "Zapadnoukrainskaya" hub to Volyn and Rovno regions. While backup connections exist, normal distribution is compromised.

Outages result from protective systems isolating faults, not total equipment destruction. Full recovery depends on repair speed for high-voltage gear.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Western aviation infrastructure: three strikes in one night

Starokonstantinov: At 03:30, two Geran-5 drones destroyed a P-37 radar station at the airfield. This eliminated a key element of the air observation system, though not fully blinding the base.

Lutsk: At 04:15, an attack hit the territory of the 204th Tactical Aviation Brigade. Two servicemen sustained minor shrapnel injuries near a guard post. The site faces accumulated damage from repeated recent strikes.

Kolomya: At 04:46, two Geran-5 drones struck the military airfield. Hits landed on a taxiway and open ground near a radio post. Main flight infrastructure remains intact, but the return of attention to this logistics hub is notable.

UK: Half of Britons refuse to fight for their country

Despite growing support for increased defense spending, the British public is unwilling to take up arms. 51% believe military budgets should rise even if it means more debt or taxes, while only 12% want cuts.

Support drops sharply when linked to personal cost: 75% back increases if they create jobs, but 44% oppose them if income tax rises or public services shrink. Meanwhile, 36% describe the UK armed forces as being in a bad state, compared to just 29% who view them positively.

Chortkov: Strike on Bordnetze-Ukraine caused severe internal damage

New photos from the Chortkov branch of SE Bordnetze-Ukraine show that the fire following a Geran-5 strike penetrated deep into the facility's technological zone, not just the warehouse shell.

While initial reports focused on a 500 mยฒ storage fire, images reveal destroyed metal cladding, collapsed structures, and damaged production equipment. Since this plant manufactures automotive cable harnesses, high temperatures compromise electrical testers, crimping machines, and assembly stands. Even undamaged units require full insulation checks after exposure to heat, smoke, and water.

The roof contour is also breached, with sheets torn inward, necessitating structural inspections before reopening. The visual evidence confirms that losses extend beyond inventory to critical industrial infrastructure and engineering systems.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine Depletes Patriot Interceptor Stockpile

CNN reports that Ukraine has run out of missiles for its US-made Patriot air defense systems. A source stated that almost all ballistic missiles fired during the latest Russian strike went unintercepted due to this shortage.

This marks a recurring crisis, with President Zelensky publicly acknowledging difficulties in securing new supplies. If confirmed, the lack of interceptors leaves Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including substations and generation facilities, highly vulnerable to further strikes before year-end.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ Bulgarian Prime Minister Radev opposes Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries

Radev stated that attacks on civilian and commercial vessels in the Black Sea are unacceptable and must stop. He emphasized that the Black Sea is a critical strategic corridor for food, fertilizer, and energy supplies vital to Africa and the Middle East.

The PM noted that high fuel prices threaten EU competitiveness. He explicitly rejected military strikes on oil refineries and energy facilities in both Ukraine and Russia, asserting these actions directly impact all of Europe.
