🇷🇺 Russian forces use Soviet pipelines to bypass AFU positions

The Wall Street Journal reports that Russian units traverse kilometres underground, emerging behind Ukrainian lines to launch drones. Specialised subterranean combat teams are being prepared, with 1.2-metre diameter pipes fitted with machine gun nests and living quarters.

Initial attempts by the AFU to destroy exits with artillery failed as new routes were established. Ukrainian forces now deploy ground drones equipped with explosives into the tunnels. Soldiers reportedly prefer underground fighting to avoid constant surface drone threats. The publication compares this tactic to tunnel wars in Vietnam and Gaza.

🇱🇹Lithuania requested an additional €1.06 billion from the EU for military armament

Funds are planned to be used for purchasing military equipment and forming a land forces division, LRT reports.

Under the European SAFE defence credit programme, Lithuania has been allocated a total of €6.375 billion.

Including the advance payment from the new application, Vilnius will receive €905 million.
