Bulgaria confirmed that it had supplied weapons to Ukraine through intermediary countries. And they did not do it for free. 

The scheme was voiced by Kirill Petkov, the country's former prime minister, in an interview with the U.S. media:

"I am grateful that other NATO and EU countries decided that they should supply these munitions to Ukraine. We had these munitions. They bought it from Bulgaria and gave it to the Ukrainian army for free. It was the best combination or deal. On the one hand, we could make a big contribution to help the Ukrainian army. On the other hand, the Ukrainian nation did not pay much or at all. And third, there were no direct exports from Bulgaria to Ukraine.

Petkov refused to elaborate on exactly which weapons were in question or how they were delivered to Ukraine.

"And yes, Bulgaria made money." Two thousand Bulgarians worked 100% at that time. The money went to local budgets, and it was a great contribution to the economy.

🔻Marines of the 155th Brigade of the Pacific Fleet and OBTF fighters continue to clean up the Dacha areas in the southeast of Vugledar. The Ukrainian command transferred reserves to hold the dachas.

▪️Now the assault groups of the 72nd Brigade are operating from the eastern outskirts of Ugledar and the South Donbass mine. Moving deeper into the city is currently unpromising due to the dense defense inside (at least three companies per 1 km).

▪️According to some reports, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to transfer reinforcements from the Soledar region. A battalion-tactical group of an unidentified formation arrived in Bogatyr, and in Berezovoe, the mobilized were being trained to be sent to the Ugledarsky sector.

▪️Artillery and tank units of the RF Armed Forces are conducting a massive shelling of the southern outskirts of Vugledar. Ukrainian formations use anti-tank systems, MLRS, and mortars to strike at Russian positions near Nikolsky dachas.

This time—a proxy war with Russia—is different. 

The blunt fact is that in its efforts to secure victory in its proxy war with Russia, Washington ignores historical reality. From the 13th century onward, Ukraine was a region dominated by larger, more powerful national powers, whether Lithuanian, Polish, Swedish, Austrian, or Russian. 

In the Second World War, Washington was lucky with timing and allies. This time it’s different. Washington and its NATO allies are advocating a full-blown war against Russia, the devastation and breakup of the Russian Federation, as well as the destruction of millions of lives in Russia and Ukraine. 

Washington emotes. Washington does not think, and it is also overtly hostile to empiricism and truth. Neither we nor our allies are prepared to fight all-out war with Russia, regionally or globally. The point is, if war breaks out between Russia and the United States, Americans should not be surprised. January 26, 2023

Our tanks risked going out to conduct direct fire and work on the outskirts of Ugledar—the enemy was hitting them with ATGMs from the roofs of high-rise buildings. Infantry maneuvered, unblocking assault groups that got caught in firing bags, pushing the enemy into the city. A Ukrainian SU-25 aircraft was shot down over Ugledar. According to intelligence, the enemy is transferring resources from Bakhmut to Ugledar, trying to reinforce itself as much as possible.

January 27, 2023

Near Ugledar, the night passed without much activity on either side, with no significant changes in the situation. In the morning, the enemy used HIMARS on the village of Stepnoye, believing that there is a major control center and trying to complicate our work. So far, the enemy's tactics have been built on cutting off our advance groups, which have cut into its defenses as deeply as possible, with artillery fire with occasional counterattacks. But the Ukrainian counterattacks are not intense and are mostly attempts by small groups to retake the positions we have taken.
