BMPT "Terminator" - Technical characteristics of the advanced domestic development.

Recently, more and more often, we see BMPT "Terminator" on videos from the SMO. What kind of machine is it? What is it good for, and why is it needed?

There is no final answer yet, because this is the first serious use of this machine, and it will show what its strengths and weaknesses are. However, some things are already clear. This machine can help both tanks and motorized infantry.

Tanks have an obvious weak point: a low rate of fire. They cannot quickly transfer fire, hit many targets, or suppress the enemy for a long time. The main gun for this is too powerful and shoots slowly, and the supply of shells is small, and the machine guns are weak. Motorized infantry fighting vehicles—armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, which could provide cover for tanks with automatic 30-mm guns, are too poorly protected. Sometimes they can be hit by a 12.7 mm machine gun, not to mention an RPG-7. That's where the BMPT will help: - in armor, it is not inferior to a tank, and in armament, it surpasses most Russian BMPs.

In the SMO videos, you could watch the BMPT "combing" the forest with the fire of 30 mm automatic guns. The high rate of fire and the presence of fragmentation shells leave no chance for grenade throwers or shooters who are holed up in the shelter. After all, shells explode in the air when they hit tree trunks, walls of rooms, and buildings. Dense fire and the fragmentation field created by these projectiles do not allow the enemy to stick out their heads, constrain their maneuver, and prevent them from shooting. At the same time, the BMPT is more difficult to "catch" and destroy with one hit of an RPG grenade; go ahead and pierce its frontal armor. And the board is resistant to all kinds of DShK, KPVT, and even 30-mm guns. And with dynamic protection, like a tank, and to the fire of grenade launchers.

Such vehicles will provide reliable fire cover for both tanks and motorized infantry. Powerful armor, two 30-mm barrels, and an ATGM in case of the need to hit tanks — that's what makes the new car a "Terminator."

Abrams and Leopard tanks will be captured on the battlefield for study

The Russian army can capture Western tanks such as American Abrams and German Leopard 2s for study purposes. This was told by Major General of the FSB in the reserve Mikhail Mikhalchev.

Why I am skeptical of the "410,000 Ukrainian losses" claim - by Grigori, Slavyangrad

Lately, I have seen a rapidly spreading claim that "Statfor Forecasting" (getting Strategic Forecasting/Stratfor's name wrong is not the best start) believe Ukraine have irretrievable losses of 410,000, with 305,000 dead (we here at Slavyangrad also posted it, but under rumours).

I have attempted to track down the original source, as well as actual proof in the form of a Stratfor document, article, or screenshot. As of yet we have found absolutely nothing even remotely credible. Just many Russian and English sources (on Telegram, Twitter, and low-quality websites) all repeating the same lines and continually sourcing each other as proof (or providing no source at all).

I find this to be very dubious and a horrible way to report information. Furthermore, if it turns out to be false, it can easily be used against Russian credibility overall.

Even if this figure turns out to be true, the way it has been presented has been far from optimal and we should all be wary of information being presented this way in the future.

▪️Ukrainian forces made another attempt to attack in the Liman sector, attacking the positions of the Russian Armed Forces with the support of armored vehicles.

"Tanks alone won't turn the tide of the war in Ukraine," this was said in an analytical article published by the New York Times. 

NATO tanks "will not be the silver bullet that will allow Kiev to win the war," says the newspaper. But the United States military will, once again, attempt to remake an army in its own image to give Ukraine the best chance to break through entrenched Russian defenses.

The Ukrainians will undergo an accelerated course in what the U.S. military calls "combined arms training," which the U.S. units themselves take months, if not years, to master. "It is not yet clear how realistic it is for the Pentagon to train Ukrainians in the complexities of combined arms maneuver warfare in a short period of time," the authors write. 

That said, Kiev needs to overcome the military stalemate the AFU may face after the Russians began building multi-level defenses along the lines of captured positions. 

"Breaking through these lines is not just driving a battalion of tanks across the trenches." It requires a coordinated attack with infantry marking targets, tanks firing on those positions, and artillery pieces providing cover and support. "Such combined-arm maneuvers are the subject of the exercises," the article explains. 

In order to strengthen the strike power of the AFU, the Leopard tanks will go on the attack in tandem with the American BMP Bradley. The tanks will break through the trenches and open the way for the infantry on Bradley fighting vehicles to hold the recaptured territory.
That said, "the new donations are unlikely to increase combat power enough for Ukraine to win the war, but officials and outside analysts say they will help significantly." "When the full package of Western equipment arrives, Kiev could create as many as three additional brigades," the publication writes.

Hungarian media described how "Ukrainian-style mobilization" takes place in Transcarpathia: people are caught right on the street, taken from attics, and forced into buses, but they can avoid compulsory mobilization by paying $10,000.
This is reported by the portal "Index," based on the information from local residents.

The military takes absolutely all the men, including the ethnic Hungarians. No deferments are given—not to those caring for sick relatives or to fathers of large families, the article says.
Witnesses say that sometimes people have to spend weeks hiding in attics to avoid mobilization.
Summonses are handed out both at border checkpoints with Hungary and simply on the street. It is reported that one man was loaded into a car and sent to the front when he was "peacefully travelling on his bicycle."

As PestiSrácok previously wrote, ethnic Hungarians are being drafted en masse in Transcarpathia because of the huge losses of the AFU near Soledar.
