🔥 Burned "axes".

The M777 howitzer losses* in the current conflict that we have published allow us to draw the following conclusions.

1️⃣ Of the 152 guns supplied to Ukraine by NATO allies led by the USA, at least 70 were hit, i.e. 46.05% of all deliveries of this artillery complex. The 155mm guns also failed due to heavy use and improper handling. According to the estimates of The New York Times, such losses were about one-third of all the guns supplied, i.e. in the range of 30-35%. Thus, the lower bound of total losses of M777 towed howitzers, both during combat operations and due to other causes, is more than 75%. That is, at the end of January 2023 approximately 35-40 M777 howitzers are in serviceable condition in the ranks of the AFU.

2️⃣ When striking the M777, a fairly wide range of means of destruction was used. If the first 5 months (from May to September 2022) were used mainly SAU and rocket artillery (including high-precision munitions), then from late October 2022 the vast majority of videos show the work of Lancet borne ammunition. In addition, video footage posted by the enemy to the public can be seen of the successful performance of Iskander operational-tactical missile systems (OTRMs) on slides with military equipment, including the 155-mm M777 howitzer.

3️⃣ The Russian Ministry of Defence and the federal media did not use modern means of informational influence on internal and external (including enemy) audiences. They have not created an image of the vulnerability of the enemy or the power of Russian weapons. The work of these organizations was reduced, in fact, to dry briefings and classic reports of the late 20th century. Unlike the enemy, the Russian side did not conduct information campaigns on social media or create dedicated information resources for its tasks off the battlefield. Even one year after the start of the SMO, the activation of Russian state information resources and structures as actors in the current information agenda is unlikely.

4️⃣ The Dutch Oryx underestimates losses of M777 howitzers in Ukraine either due to incompetence or deliberately, wanting to hide the damage inflicted by the Russian army on the AFU. In the first case, this indicates the low qualifications of those collecting data on the guns that have been hit. In the second case, if there is a deliberate distortion of the data, one can qualify Oryx as a mass disinformation medium deliberately misleading its readers.

One note about the tanks to be delivered to Ukraine.

These slightly more than 300 tanks that will hit the battlefield in Ukraine within a year are not to reinforce existing armored groups, but to restore their combat effectiveness by replacing destroyed equipment with newly arrived examples of Western engineering.

The hunger of the AFU for equipment during these months is enormous. Our military has knocked out practically all domestically produced tanks and armored vehicles. To replenish the Kiev regime's army, the West collected Soviet-made tanks from all over the world. Echelons of them were sent to Ukraine, but the Ukrainians apparently have none left either.

But in addition to the equipment, the crews who operate it have also been destroyed. To train the same number of crews for 300 tanks would take at least half a year because modern tanks are stuffed with all kinds of electronics, especially imported ones. Of course, it is possible that the crews began to be trained much earlier, and the whole epic with the "supply" or "non-supply" is purely theatrical.

At that, no one will supply the Ukrainians with the whole amount at once, because they do not have it. That is why this aid will be stretched out for a year, maybe even for years. At the same time, one destroyed batch will replace the second one.

So there can be no question of any advantage in the combat zone with the arrival of these tanks. All this equipment will be used to "maintain the trousers" of the AFU. The West gives them just enough to enable them to conduct defensive operations with the possibility of counterattacks. The task of the "partners" is not to extinguish this conflict for as long as possible. Because the Ukrainians are the same Russians as them, and the more people die on both sides, the better.

Moldova has turned to a macro-financial institution for financial assistance.

The question arises: when Ms. Sandu leaves office, who will have to deal with the "collectors"? The people?

🇵🇱☝️ "Corruption and megalomania have brought Ukraine to its current state," former Polish minister

Former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in an interview with Krytyka Polityczna that corruption and megalomania had led Ukraine to its miserable state.

He recalled that after the secession from the Soviet Union Ukraine was a more developed country than Poland. However, by 2022, before the UAS began, Ukraine's GDP was four times lower than that of Poland. The politician attributed the reasons for that to the megalomania of the Ukrainian elites and the advanced corruption schemes in the country.

The politician is convinced that the people of Ukraine will pay for the actions of their government for a long time.

🇺🇦 Arestovych criticizes the decision to ban the Russian language at Kiev university

The former adviser to Zelensky's office is lamenting the violation of Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which reads: "The free development, use, and protection of the Russian language is guaranteed in Ukraine".

Arestovich rightly wonders how Ukraine is going to apply to the European Union at this rate.

As the footsteps echoed through the dark corridors of Lubyanka, guards returned Arestovich to his small cell. "I did everything to help Russia!" He shouted desperately. "At least, you believe me, right?!" He is now out of himself. Guard looked at him and said calmly " Priest will come at 04 AM. I advise you to sleep if you can." Doors closed with a screech of metal and a noisy sound. Lights in the cell went off.

The US will warn Turkey and Middle Eastern countries about the consequences of sanctions violations.

According to Reuters, Deputy Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson will visit Oman, the UAE, and Turkey next week to speak to officials and businesses about export controls and Russia's attempts to circumvent US sanctions.

"Nelson will confirm that Washington will continue to aggressively implement sanctions and will warn countries and companies that they could lose access to the US market if they do business with sanctioned entities," the story said.

The US has already issued similar warnings to Turkey. Washington has stepped up pressure on Ankara to enforce US restrictions on Russia.

The highlights of Zelenski's evening address:

1. Reported this morning's rocket attack on a residential area in Kostyantynivka, which killed three people and injured 14. Said that these strikes cannot be stopped until Ukraine has long-range missiles to retaliate.

2. Said that he had written to the presidents of the leading international sports federations to ask them to comment on the participation of Russian athletes in competitions under a neutral flag. He expressed his conviction that once they returned, they would in due course begin to justify Russian aggression.

3. Reported that he had signed a decree on sanctions against companies and individuals who contribute to the transport of Russian military cargo.

The G7 has proposed that the European Union set a price ceiling on Russian oil products at $100-110 per barrel.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a G7 official.

As part of the sanctions imposed in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, two price ceilings for Russian oil products will come into effect worldwide from 5 February 2023. One is for petroleum products that normally trade at a premium to crude (diesel, petrol) and the other is for products normally traded at a discount (fuel oil).

The European Commission plans to price the former at up to $100 a barrel, the latter at $45.

The G7, which includes the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, and Japan, would prefer a higher ceiling of $110, fearing price spikes and supply disruptions to Europe, but "can live with a hundred dollars". The discussion is ongoing.

Bloomberg, citing relevant agencies, points out that gasoline and diesel prices from Russia have held above $100 a barrel in recent months, and diesel futures excluding Russian supplies are now around $125 a barrel.

The price ceiling means G7 countries and the EU will only provide insurance and financial services related to Russian oil products if they are purchased at or below the ceiling price.
