The Russian Foreign Ministry has notified Japan that it will not hold any consultations with it for overfishing in the South Kuril region.

The reason is quite obvious: Japan's anti-Russian stance. For the same reasons, any consultations on the status of the Southern Kurils, joint economic activities in the Kuril Islands, or even the possibility for the Japanese to visit the graves of their relatives in the Kuril Islands, have been halted.

Of course, there are zero prospects for any discussion of a peace treaty between Russia and Japan because of Japan's territorial claims against Russia, which Japan has not and will not give up.

Since there are no prerequisites for changing Japan's position, there is naturally no reason for Russia to discuss anything with Japan on the Kuril Islands, especially since Japan is revealing itself as a US satellite to be used in a war against China, which is friendly to Russia. Japan in the current circumstances makes no secret of its intentions of further militarization against China and North Korea (and in the long run, it will pose additional threats to Russia as well), so there is nothing to talk about with Japan in the current realities.

The moments when they could have bargained for two islands in the Southern Kurils have been missed.

The Washington Post sums up the intrigue with deliveries of heavy tanks to Ukraine, analyzing the key but ambiguous role of the USA in this process.

The author boils it down to the fact that the US promise to supply Abrams tanks to Ukraine was made with the sole purpose: to induce Germany to deliver its Leopard tanks to Kiev. Chancellor Scholz was stubborn, and there was practically no other way to move things forward.  

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his idea of "long-term needs" played a crucial role here. This is the sauce under which America will send its tanks to Ukraine - and the wording suggests that it may not be in a particular hurry to do so. The US does not want Abrams on the front primarily because they are equipped with sophisticated depleted uranium armor, the composition of which is a top state secret. If the Abrams fall into Russian hands (which is more than likely during the fighting), the secret could be revealed.

Blinken's formulation gave everyone a way out, but is unlikely to hasten the arrival of tanks in the line of fire, The Washington Post concludes.

Today's strikes on a munitions depot in the Iranian city of Isfahan were "phenomenally successful", according to the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post.

"Four explosions were detonated at the site. The damage caused far exceeds the "minor roof damage" reported by the Iranians," the newspaper wrote.

Israel has refrained from commenting on the incident. But many Western intelligence officials and sources in Iran see similarities in today's action to similar strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities at Natanz in July 2020 and in April 2021, and at Karaj in June 2021, which the paper recalls were carried out by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

The Jerusalem Post points out there are other agencies in the world capable of such precise strikes besides Mossad.

Thanks for the opportunity to ask a question. I have an important question that I feel is crucial to this conflict and its resolution. This question has been bothering me for a long time.  Alas, have not been able to find an answer. I feel that the key to this conflict is with the Ukranian people. The war stops tomorrow if Ukranians refuse to fight.  My question is - what is the position of the vast majority of the Ukranians towards Russia now? Pro Russian government was elected in 2014. But how do Ukranians feel NOW after seeing their country destroyed. Judging from the intensity of the conflict and willingness to fight it appears they dont like Russia anymore.  You see captured soldiers from Artemovsk, Zaporozhie , Donbass fighting in the Ukrainain army. How can they fight their brothers?  Even if Russia wins, winning the hearts and minds of the Ukranians will be the key to the everlasting peace and security for Russia. Russia can not win if Ukranians dont accept her. Can the nations be brothers again as Russians claim or everything is lost with this massive destruction? I dont see Russia paying attention to this at all but I might be wrong. The situation of how Ukrainians perceive Russians is very confusing to me. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

You asked the hardest question so far. SMO put a very ambitious task in front of it. A beautiful idea from the start (quick collapse of Ua) didn't succeed, so we got what we got instead. By changing the nature of conducting an SMO, the consequences of its ending also changed. I bored to death people with that Putin speech before the start of the operation where he emphasized terms of demilitarization and denazification. It didn't work relatively peacefully so we got war instead. Now, mentioned two terms mean to kill or capture. Everyone understands it now. But, unfortunately, that also seals the fate of some peaceful cohabitation in the future for some time after the end of SMO. The conflict became more brutal, with Ukrainians calling Russians hordes, Orcs, barbarians, and Russians Ukrainians swines and whatnot. It became dehumanizing. The number of dead is staggering. That is one minus of winning hearts and minds. And it will only grow. However, in secret, some part of Ukraine's population still supports Russia. But they are a minority. Rest already become victims of this war (by losing friends or family members) and their hate only grows. Some are In fear, some demoralized but some want to fight, for whatever reason (mind you, many of them are forcefully mobilized and they chose between ours and their bullets). After the war, Ukraine will be a ruined, depopulated piece of land with a broken populace that heads mental, emotional, and every other issue we can imagine. Do I expect insurgency? No. Why? Because I think they will have it enough. Those flags in graveyards are ruthless reminders of the cost they paid so far and will pay in the future. Will we be brothers? Hardly, despite some relations among the people are still saved. But when you see mobilization videos from various places and foreseen destiny of the majority of those people, strings will mostly be severed. I can't say forever, but for a very long time at least. What will stop the rebellion of Ukrainians in the future? Unfortunately, In the first place, fear. Generations will pass till Russia can say that Ukraine is loyal. And Russia will have to work very hard to secure that nothing of a sort happens again. We can go into a polemic about how to do that, but my opinion is the end of Ukraine as a nation (which they invented btw) and the term Ukrainian will only be used as a geographical reference. In a sense, civil war is fought here. And history thought us that those types of wars are the bloodiest of all. With all consequences, they brought after.
