CIA Director William Burns has revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed his country’s army "to be ready by 2027 to conduct a successful invasion" of Taiwan. 

Burns also said he believes that Xi has been closely watching Russian President Vladimir Putin’s prolonged and costly invasion of Ukraine.Beijing has been engaged in a tense territorial dispute with the island, which it claims is part of China. 

"On Taiwan, I guess I would say our assessment at CIA is that I wouldn’t underestimate President Xi’s ambitions with regard to Taiwan. He has been pretty clear about that over the years," Burns said. "I think he has watched very carefully – it seems to us – Putin’s experience in Ukraine.

"We know as a matter of intelligence that he has instructed the People’s Liberation Army to be ready by 2027 to conduct a successful invasion," Burns continued.

German Prosecutor General Peter Frank said there was no evidence of Russia's involvement in the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

"At the moment it is impossible to prove it, the investigation is ongoing," Frank said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.

With the help of two research vessels, according to him, water and soil samples were taken, as well as the remains of pipelines from explosion sites located in the exclusive economic zones of Denmark and Sweden.

"We are currently evaluating all this from the point of view of forensics," the German prosecutor general emphasized. At the same time, he recalled that Denmark and Sweden are conducting their own investigations into the incident. The pressure drop on both lines of the pipeline was recorded on September 26, 2022. The Danish authorities determined that the cause was an explosion.

Earlier in Germany , there were suggestions that one of the Western countries could be involved in the explosion.

❗️ Judging by the negotiations of the members of the 25th brigade, the offensive of the Russian Army was unexpected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Retreating from the front lines, Ukrainian formations threw weapons and ammunition.

▪️Now the units of the 144th Motor Rifle Division of the RF Armed Forces are fixed on the occupied lines. There are active artillery duels. Formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are regrouping at the turn of Yampolovka - Terny .

🔻Simultaneous advance of Wagner PMC assault detachments from Soledar , the 144th motorized rifle division of the RF Armed Forces in the Liman sector and the liberation of Belogorovka creates the preconditions for access to Seversk and its operational encirclement from the south, north and east.

A further offensive by the RF Armed Forces in this direction will call into question the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold it. The settlement is located in a lowland and it is virtually impossible to defend it.
