Twitter's redesign of it's stand-alone tweet page, which is now full of "More Tweets" is a big up yours 🖕 to brands on the platform.

#Twitter

It's not all about YOU ....

#Instagram limits brand profiles to 12 images and adds related accounts feature.

Did you know? 🤔

If you have a #YouTube channel you also have a YouTube Music channel that shows only your music related videos and playlists.

Twitter renames "Retweets with comments" to "Quote tweets".

Do replies not count? 🤔

Think carefully about marking your video content or YouTube channel as "Made for Kids".

Here's what you need to know.

#YouTube

YouTube becomes the most recent large social platform to throw a sign in prompt up in the face of logged out users.

Currently this can still be dismissed, but could signal the start of a move toward eventually walling off content for casual not-signed-in users.

Seeing a new Customise channel feature in some YouTube channels when in YouTube Studio.

If you can't see it yet in your channel you may be able to hop there by adding the section in bold below to your base YouTube studio URL.

YouTube Channels - Customisation

You'll see this message in YouTube studio when customising your channel.

What it fails to mention is that you'll need a channels section on your home tab in order for anything to show in the "Channels" tab.

So keep in mind if you don't want any channel groupings on the home tab you can't show any groupings elsewhere.

The major PTA with this change is that the option to randomise how featured channels are shown is gone.

What have you done, or are you doing something which you regard as strategic?

To try and stem the spread of fake news and misinformation, Twitter will now remind you to read an article shared on Twitter, before you can retweet the shared link.

💡The more interest people show in your videos, the more likely it is that your videos will be recommended across YouTube 💡

Which, from today's updates, are you most excited about?

Have you thought about how good Telegram search is?

What does it mean for your content strategy for example.

Another reason I think TEXT is a terrible idea in YouTube thumbnails: embeds.

You cannot control the shape of the space your video is displayed in. Therefore you cannot control the display of text contained in your YouTube thumbnail.

I would recommend not including text in YouTube thumbnails.

WhatsApp introduces disappearing messages.

"Today, WhatsApp messages often live on our phones forever. While it’s great to hold onto memories from friends and family, most of what we send doesn’t need to be everlasting.

Our goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as close to in-person as possible, which means they shouldn’t have to stick around forever. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the option to use disappearing messages on WhatsApp.

When disappearing messages is turned on, new messages sent to a chat will disappear after seven days, helping the conversation feel lighter and more private. In a one-to-one chat, either person can turn disappearing messages on or off. In groups, admins will have the control."
