It's something I assume everyone knows and then people's behaviour reminds me that they might not.

On Instagram hashtags you add to YOUR posts, or in comments on your posts, will return in search.

Hashtags others add in comments on posts which are not theirs do NOT return in a search for that hashtag.

'Age-Restricted' - YouTube

YouTube is now flagging content as part of the upload process and the algorythim may be a little keen. I had my latest video automatically 'age-restricted' though I cannot see how or why it may have triggered the algorythim.

The communication I recieved states that "our team has reviewed your content" though that cannot be the case; it has to be algorythimic I'd say.

Social Media Potential

Telegram channels strike me as the most flexible, feature rich social media opportunity currently available.

First up I'm interested in whether you agree or dissagree?

Having spent a fair amount of time thinking of fun and interesting ways a channels could be used, the only thing I remain confused about is how and why the normal social media crowd seem to have totally missed Telegram as an opportunity. 🤔

Let's talk about replies on Telegram

Why?
Well, there are a number of reasons but mostly because people seem to think that a message is a reply when it comes after a previous message. This is not the case.

Sometimes you may not need to think about your response as a reply.
For example, this channel post; if you respond with a comment your comment is a reply automatically. It's a reply in the connected group. It just looks like youve responded with a comment.

If you respond to a previous comment, by leaving a following comment chronologically, that comment is not technically a reply to the previous comment is is another reply to the channel post (in the connected group).

When communicating in large groups, unless your message is totally new you should always respond with a relpy. If you don't then the context of your message can be lost to others. That might not be obvious to you as you are seeing messages displayed chronologically, but any public message can be viewed in an isolated fashion, or as part of a "discussion" thread: but only where people have actually used reply.

Of the people I communicate with on Telegram many of them claim to understand how replies work, but none of them actually implement replies. Either they do not understand, or they have not paid enough attention.

Possibly most interestingly, non-algorythmic message delivery.

Meaning subscribers will be notified by default. Consider that one point in comparison to whether followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc will see any post a brand makes.

Blogger's FollowByEmail widget is being canned

If you're a user of Google's Blogger platform you'll need to look for other options for your subscribers before July 2021.

It's my last full week working for Ford Europe. Today I've handed over ownership of the @InsideFord Telegram channel and my expectations are that it will most likely be left to stagnate.

Why would that happen? Basically I failed to help others see any opportunity. Not sure how much that is down to my faliure or other people's general dissinterest.

Try to see how these two updates, which look basically the same, differ from one another.

Twitter's live audio feature "Spaces" is rolling out to more users.

Anyone can join, but only a small sample of iOS users can currently create a Space.

Here's a help page.

Hopefully this'll knock Clubhouse on the head.

There are more features coming for Spaces apparently. Currently Telegram is ahead as far as features go, but that has been largely ignored by the media.

Reddit Talk 🎙️

Reddit has unveiled its take on a Clubhouse-like social audio product called Reddit Talk.

Currently you'll need to sign up to the waiting list and even when rolled.out this will be opt-in for subreddits.

After my final day for Ford Europe yesterday I have removed @InsideFord and @TeamFordzilla from the My Telegram Channels list.

Maybe those channels will be well used in by my former collegues the future, maybe they won't.

In terms of my community experimentation my focus is now mostly on the German language project @MyStadtKoeln + @EnglishCologne

Should I be able to pursuade enough people to get involved with that it could then grow into something interesting.
