Details of the YouTube Shorts Fund
A new video details how creators on YouTube could be offered payments of between $100 to $10000 each month, for creating popular and unique #Shorts
The most interesting thing here I think is that it's open to all creators, including those outside the YouTube partner program.

Do you need a seperate YouTube channel for Shorts?
MKBHD has officially announced a new channel for shorts. It's a trend at the moment, but is it the right way to go and why do YouTubers feel that there is a need for seperate channel for shorts?
Personally my view is that shorts aren't their own thing on YouTube. They are often used to make a short version of a long video on the same channel and this duplication is what suggest that the seperation is a good idea.
I'd say YouTube has dropped the ball. What was and still is needed are notification filters. So that subscribers can choose what they want to be notified of from a channel: no shorts, just shorts etc.

YouTube's videos descriptions have moved
This may be an A/B test, but I'm seeing (on the Youtube desktop site) video description no longer expanding below thge video, but are now displayed to the right.
When the decription is long enough there is an aditional "More" button to expand the decription box further.
I understand the logic of this as the viewer can read the description while the video plays in place, but it feels to me like it's less connected to the videi itself.
Are you seeing this on desktop too?
Whay do you think?

More YouTube layout tests
Last time I showed how YouTube was testing moving the video description from below the video to the right hand column. Now YouTube are also toying with moving the comments section too.
Accessing the description seems particularly difficult, with just a tiny clickable area to launch the description pannel. Comments gets a more visible clickable pill next to a new "subscribe" layout.
Thoughts?
Is anyone else seeing these A/B tests?

WTF YouTube?!
Not sure why YouTube thinks when a user clicks or taps on a hashtag that they want to see completely unrelated search results π€·ββοΈ
Google's ability to be really dumb is often surprising.
EDIT: I've take a closer look and it seems that YouTube has completely given up on hashtag pages. If this was communicated anywhere please link me to it. Thanks
EDIT 2: Some hashtags go to the hashtag page. Some, it seems like most, redirect to a search page.

Remember video responses on YouTube?
.... Which were dumped way back in 2013.
Well it seems #Shorts have brought back a way to respond, at least for videos 60 seconds and under: use cut.
Though you can only use around five seconds from the Short you are responding to.
Easy? Try it out and let me know π
