Anyone managing a brand on social should take a look at Telegram's tweets and replies tab on Twitter.

Sure your client may not allow the freedom to craft a brand voice quite as well rounded, but there is plenty there to see and gain insight from.

Do you need a seperate YouTube channel for Shorts?

MKBHD has officially announced a new channel for shorts. It's a trend at the moment, but is it the right way to go and why do YouTubers feel that there is a need for seperate channel for shorts?

Personally my view is that shorts aren't their own thing on YouTube. They are often used to make a short version of a long video on the same channel and this duplication is what suggest that the seperation is a good idea.

I'd say YouTube has dropped the ball. What was and still is needed are notification filters. So that subscribers can choose what they want to be notified of from a channel: no shorts, just shorts etc.

What's your view?

Twitter Communities

This seems like a pretty new Twitter feature.

Are you using Twitter communities?

Instagram Favourites

"Today, we’re introducing Favorites and Following, two new ways to choose what you see in your feed."

My view: A half baked power user feature.

A maximum of fifty accounts can be favourited. That's an abitrarily low numer for power users, who are (mostly) the only users that will use this feature.

Twitter Community Invites (Suggestion)

Currently community invites are sent via Twitter Direct Message.
This seems like a flawed approach when DMs will often NOT trigger any notification, but rely on an inactive user actually going to look for unseen message request.

I would suggest a better approach could be to expose community invites in the general community area (user/communities).

There also needs to be user control over who can issue invites.

Is this legal?

The most common "competition" I see on social media, mostly on Instagram, currently is this: to enter follow X and Y accounts and tag X of your friends.

Is this kind of activity legal? Both in terms of platform policies, it's clearly gamification of the algorithm. And in terms of actual law, as the post is I assume a paid promotion on the publishing channel sponsored by the other channel that one is required to follow.

Twitter Circle now available for all users.

Add up to 150 user and tweet just to them.

Who sees REPLIES to Twitter Circle tweets?

It's not clear to me who sees replies to Twitter Circle tweets. Are they like replies to protected tweets, which are public (when the accounts tweets are public). Or do replies to a Twitter Circle tweet have the same visibility applied as the Twitter Circle tweet?

I guess I could test this, but does anyone already know?

Currently when you publish on Twitter it is possible to change "Who can reply" from "Everyone" to "People you follow" or "Only people you mention".

It seems to me that it would make much more sense for the middle option to be "Your followers" instead.
