For instance, the previous standard H.265/HEVC requires 10 gigabytes of data to transmit a 90-min UHD video,” reads Fraunhofer’s press release. “With this new technology, only 5 gigabytes of data are required to achieve the same quality. Because H.266/VVC was developed with ultra-high-resolution video content in mind, the new standard is particularly beneficial when streaming 4K or 8K videos on a flat screen TV. Furthermore, H.266/VVC is ideal for all types of moving images: from high-resolution 360° video panoramas to screen sharing contents.”

三峡最近一次泄洪是2020年中国南方水灾期间。6月28日，水利部长江水利委员会在当天16时向中国长江三峡集团的调度令机要电文流出，[2]该红头文件要求当天20时起将三峡水库按31,000立方米每秒下泄，6月29日08时起按35,000立方米每秒下泄，[2]达到入库流量的87.5%。[3]在泄洪之后，人民网图片频道等官媒在6月29日16开始起才报导了当天上午已泄洪的消息，是2020年首度泄洪；[4][3][5]下游民众具体知道泄洪的时间不详。
泄洪原因
由于长江在“三峡大坝以上的年径流量达4500亿立方米，而且其中的70%左右集中在汛期。相比而言，三峡水库221.5亿立方米的防洪库容（注：即坝前年径流量5%）就显得十分有限”[6]，当主汛期时水量过多，来不及经过水轮机发电而直接从水坝流出，称为泄洪。[1] 在非汛期，水库保持较高水位用于供水、发电、灌溉等功能，汛期来临前，水库将将水位降低，以腾出库容迎接洪水；三峡工程的水库正常蓄水位175米、相应库容393亿立方米，汛期时要降至汛期防洪限制水位（简称汛限水位）145米、相应的防洪库容221.5亿立方米。[7]长江上所有水库的蓄水能力，还不到长江年径流量的20%，从这个角度来看，中国水力发电工程学会认为长江沿岸水坝需要泄洪是因为中国水利设施不足、蓄水库容不足
