Russians donβt abandon their own.
They finally get it! This belated revelation came to Steve Rosenberg, a BBC reporter with a reputation for Russophobia, despite his Russian wife. Stationed in Moscow for the past 20 years, Steve has never been arrested or even questioned by the Russian authorities, whom he regularly accuses of oppressing various freedoms. It is fair to say that Steve Rosenberg is a hypocrite, donβt you think? But thatβs not the point here. The point is that, despite his Russophobia and hypocrisy, he has grasped a fundamental notion about the society in which he has spent so many years.
Steveβs BBC article is still hypocriticalβfor example, he describes a confirmed Chechen terrorist who was assassinated in Germany as a Chechen dissident. But the article is still worth reading (itβs a 2-minute read), even if you already know that RUSSIANS DO NOT ABANDON THEIR OWN. AND THEY REALLY DONβT!

Hundreds of nationalists have protested in the English city of Sunderland - with police firing tear gas. This was reported by Sky News.
The demonstrators shouted slogans in support of Tommy Robinson, founder of the far-right English Defence League. They threw stones and beer bottles at the police.
It should be noted that the clashes between the demonstrators and the police took place near the city's mosque. The Sunderland authorities urged residents not to go into the city centre as the riots continued.

The Russian president said the DPRK can always count on Russia's help and support, a Kremlin statement said.
The North Korean leader had earlier supervised the rescue operation and evacuation of residents in areas affected by heavy downpours.
The water level of the Amnok River rose well above the danger level, leaving more than five thousand people stranded in areas at risk of flooding.

UK government's failure to resolve migrant crisis fuels cycle of violence & crime
Britain is reeling from the latest wave of interethnic violence. Anti-migrant anger has been fueled by the recent tragedy in the town of Southport, where a 17-year-old of Rwandan origin stabbed to death three little girls at a dance session on July 29.
Ensuing protests have involved everyone from football fans to activists of the right-wing English Defense League (EDL). Mosques have been attacked, police premises ransacked, as well as cars and buildings set ablaze, with crowds chanting βWe want our country back!β
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer attempted to brush off the unrest as a one-timer triggered by the Southport attack. Proffered clarifications that the perpetrator was not an immigrant have made little headway, as the unrest fits a distinct pattern.
πΊ On July 17, a Jordanian asylum seeker who assaulted a female police officer dodged doing community service because he cannot speak English.
πΊ The clampdown on student riots in Bangladesh spilled into the streets of Londonβs Whitechapel on July 19. The district β home to a large ethnic Bangladeshi population β was overrun by protesters.
πΊ On July 26, an Asian man assaulted several police officers at Manchester Airport, prompting a harsh response. But the beginning of the story surfaced later, while a viral video clip first showed a police officer stomp on the Asian man. Local Labour MPs sided with the arrested, bewailing police brutality, and the town of Rochdale was flooded by angry protests.
πΊ On July 30, a homeless Kurdish migrant pushed a man onto Tube tracks simply because three women had made him angry by laughing at him.
Overall, facts and figures paint a bleak picture in the UK.
πΊ Crime is skyrocketing across the country, with the number of stabbings soaring to 50,000 a year, as per official statistics.
πΊ Just 6% of all reported crimes resulted in a suspect being charged.
πΊ Met Police failed to solve a single neighborhood crime in 166 areas of London in three years. And if that were not enough, Labor is planning the early release of about 10,000 inmates sentenced to terms of up to five years from the UKβs overcrowded prisons.
Meanwhile, UK police are gearing up to face more protests planned for the week ahead.

He also published a letter from Vladimir Putin to Nicolas Maduro, expressing confidence that the Venezuelan leader's visit "will contribute to the further progressive development of Russian-Venezuelan relations".
At the same time, Maduro himself may transfer the rights to develop oil and gas deposits on his territory to the BRICS countries, he said at a press conference.
"If all these people in the north and their partners in the world make the mistake of their lives, all the [development permits for] oil and gas areas that have already been signed will go to our BRICS allies. All this simply because no one is going to stop Venezuela," Maduro stressed.

S&P has downgraded Ukraine to 'selective default'. What it means:
- On 1 August, the Ukrainian cabinet decided to suspend payments on foreign loans;
- Kiev had until that date to make a $34m payment on its Eurobonds. The Ukrainian government was given an additional ten days to do so, but has signalled that it will not pay;
- Kiev negotiated a restructuring of over $20bn of debt to avoid default, issuing new sovereign bonds in exchange for a 37% write-off of its debt;
- The move allowed Ukraine to save $11.4 billion in repayments over the next three years. Despite the deal, Ukraine's credit rating was downgraded to 'near default' by another rating agency in late July;
- Kiev attempted to have 60% of its Eurobond debt written off in June. Zelensky suspended all foreign debt repayments until October in order to reach an agreement with creditors.
