🇮🇷 What will Iran's foreign policy look like under new president Pezeshkian?
Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran's newly elected president, shared the main priorities of Iran's foreign policy with Sputnik just before the election:
Pezeshkian emphasized his intention to strengthen ties with Russia and China and to ensure Iran's active presence in BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
💬 "Russia is a friend and partner of Iran, and I consider the deepening and expansion of relations with Russia and China a top priority, as well as increasing foreign policy activities in the Asian region as a whole. We will undoubtedly continue efforts at all levels—bilateral, regional, and international—to enhance interaction with Russia."
He further elaborated on his views regarding the SCO and BRICS, asserting their importance in his foreign policy strategy.
💬 "Iran opposes unilateral policies and supports the principle of multipolarity. Additionally, one of the priorities of my foreign policy program is regional cooperation. To this end, Iran will expand its presence in BRICS and SCO, and seek more active cooperation with the EAEU to fully realize the trade and economic potential with the member countries of this organization."
He also expressed hope that Russia and China would assist Iran in revitalizing the JCPOA and lifting sanctions.
💬 "The JCPOA is an international agreement approved by the UN. The US's unilateral withdrawal from this agreement caused significant harm to Iran and the Iranian people. As Russia has emphasized multiple times, Iran has fulfilled its obligations, and we see our task as getting the other participants to return to this agreement as soon as possible and achieving the lifting of sanctions. I am confident that the friendly governments of Russia and China will support Iran and assist in resolving this issue."

He said he saw a soldier begging for medical help in a mixture of broken English and Russian, and while one of the group members was looking for bandages, another “fired his weapon at the torso of a Russian soldier.” He fell, still breathing. Another soldier “just shot him in the head,” Grosse recalled in an interview.
The German, amazed by what was happening, tried to talk to the commander, but this did not bring any results, and he contacted the NYT editorial office. The account of other similar episodes is supported by his notes from the time, video recordings and text messages exchanged between members of the unit. Some of them, judging by the correspondence, were ready to take responsibility “if it comes out.”
The actual company commander, Ryan O'Leary, when asked by the editors, denies that members of his unit committed war crimes. However, it is even worse, the author summarizes, that the presence of at least one such video in the US Armed Forces would be a reason for an immediate investigation. In Ukraine, there is no responsibility at all.

▪️Unarmed wounded Russian soldier crawling and asking for help from his captor was shot in torso, he slumped, still breathing, when another soldier shot him in the head (Caspar's diary note on left).
▪️ Chosen member lobbed grenade at and killed surrendering Russian soldier with hands raised.
In third episode, Chosen members boasted in group chat about killing Russian POWs during mission in October, text messages show. A soldier who was briefly in command that day said he would take responsibility - article reveals several other war crimes were committed by unit led by U.S commander, with Greek soldier known as Zeus at center of all.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense announced that Armenian-American exercises Eagle Partner 2024 will be held in the country from July 15 to 24.
▪️Official sources indicate that the maneuvers will involve servicemembers of the peacekeeping brigade of the Armenian Armed Forces, the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa, and the Kansas National Guard.
▪️The stated goal of the exercises is to increase the level of operability of units for peacekeeping operations, exchange experience in management and tactical communication, as well as to improve the combat readiness of the Armenian peacekeeping unit.
▪️The Armenian-American exercises Eagle Partner were held for the first time in September 2023. Although it is a matter of training a peacekeeping contingent that usually serves in Kosovo, the maneuvers, as in the previous year, are more of a political demonstration than of practical significance.
🔻The Americans' designation of their presence in the Caucasus, together with statements about strategic rapprochement with Armenia, are irritants both for Russia, which is trying to expel from the region, and for Iran, which opposes the change in the balance of power and the military presence of the West near its borders.
However, for the Armenian government, it is now important to show the acquisition of new allies in order to demonstrate at least some achievements to society. And it is not so crucial that these "allies" are globally advantageous to strategically weaken Armenia in the form of the loss of territories vital for it.
