Ukrainian soldiers unable to declare goodwill towards Russia due to persecution – POW
Andrei Bugayev served in a rear unit ordered to strengthen a combat brigade. His squad was trained for two weeks before being sent to the Kupyansk region and a hot spot near Volchansk.
After coming under heavy fire and a drone attack, Bugayev and his comrades came under siege. The Ukrainian soldiers then decided to surrender.
Bugayev shared that many of his comrades could not declare their goodwill towards Russia openly due to fear of persecution.

US discloses data on its strategic nuclear weapons
As of September 2023, the United States had 3,748 nuclear warheads, the National Nuclear Security Agency reports.
This figure shows that the stockpile is down 88% from its peak of 31,255 at the end of the 1967 fiscal year, according to the agency.
The number of US non-strategic nuclear weapons has fallen by more than 90% since September 1991.

Discovery of drone surveillance by Trump's shooter reveals additional security lapses
Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter who tried to kill Donald Trump at the rally in Pennsylvania, managed to fly a drone for aerial footage of the site, a few hours before the assassination attempt, the WSJ reports, citing law-enforcement officials familiar with the matter.
Crooks had flown the drone on a programmed flight path several times earlier in the day on July 13, to scour the Butler Farm Show grounds ahead of the event, the officials said. The discovery has raised more serious concerns over the reliability of the security services, the outlet notes.
What else has been revealed?
🔶 The use of the drone was just one way in which authorities said Crooks had planned his attack. The perpetrator came to Trump's rally with a pair of homemade bombs designed for detonation with remote control.
🔶 The authorities also found primitive explosives and a vest with three 30-round magazines in Crooks' car. This suggests that he probably "wanted to cause greater carnage", according to the article.
🔶 Crooks had also ordered several packages labeled "hazardous materials" to be shipped to his home in the past month.
🔶 He also conducted online searches for Trump rally dates, and information on Biden and the Democratic National Convention.

How is Western media reporting on Biden's potential exit from US presidential race?
Several media outlets have reported that Joe Biden, considered the guaranteed nominee of the US Democratic Party until recently, is ready to withdraw from the US presidential race:
🌏 The avalanche of news on Biden’s possible decision to quit the race started when journalist and Newsmax commentator, Mark Halperin, said he had “multiple sources” informing him of Biden's plans to withdraw his candidacy. The president would announce it as early as this weekend, Halperin had stated.
🌏 Later, the Washington Post (WP) shed light on the “behind-the-scenes role" of Nancy Pelosi in persuading Biden "to exit race."
🌏 The Financial Times (FT) revealed that US elites have resorted to tougher means to persuade Biden. The newspaper reports that donors “threatened to halt funding for his [Biden’s] campaign” and “heaped” pressure on the Democratic Party’s “grandees”, including Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi. Due to the financial factor, "the pressure is insurmountable", an insider told the FT.
🌏 NBC reported that even Biden’s most defiant backers have abandoned him, quoting an unnamed “person close to Biden” as saying “we are close to the end.”

"The International Court of Justice has delivered today its Advisory Opinion in the proceedings concerning Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem," spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Friday in a statement.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "will promptly transmit the Advisory Opinion to the General Assembly," the statement added, as it had requested the "Court's advice."
"It is for the General Assembly to decide how to proceed in this matter," the statement read.
