Dear Students,
Further to my previous communications regarding the current pandemic, I am contacting you again to ensure that you are fully informed about our plans to deal with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis. This includes arrangements for the remaining three weeks of teaching and end of semester examinations.
Safely returning our students to a vibrant campus has been our priority. We’ve worked hard to prepare a 2021 timetable that provides dual delivery (a mix of face-to-face and online learning for lectures), allowing us to maximise the number of on-campus classes, while still prioritising the safety of our students and staff. This included returning many of the components of our courses to face-to-face learning, in our state-of-the-art facilities.
The way Semester two 2021 unfolded is a source of pride for WIUT community members. Amidst testing of all of our staff, there was no campus case of COVID detected, and little or no evidence that our classrooms (where density had been reduced) were a source of transmission for the virus. Time and again, WIUT’s staff demonstrated their dedication to ensuring students’ academic progress, fulfilling their duties even as they confronted unprecedented professional and personal challenges.
The challenges are not over yet. We appreciate the steadfastness you are showing at this time, and the faith you are placing in us to support you in your academic goals. The University takes health and safety very seriously; we are constantly reviewing the epidemiological situation in the country and in liaison with the Ministry of Higher Education. At present, the epidemiological situation remains low on campus.
Our University has a standard operating procedure in place and has taken precautionary measures:
· Temperature tests at our University entrances
· Regular sanitisation and disinfection throughout the campus
· Disinfectant provided at building entrances
· Requesting social distancing whilst on campus
· Campaigns to increase awareness to take precautions
· Kvars (air circulation) machines situated around the campus
· A dedicated Medical Doctor and seven nurses employed
· COVID-19 testing available
· Requesting students to wear masks whilst on campus
· All lectures remain on-line in semester two
WIUT Management has also approved guidelines in relation to the provision and conducting of face-to-face examinations and this will be shared with you in the near future. These guidelines provide strict instructions to continue to keep you and our staff safe in the current environment. At this point in time, face to face examinations will continue under these guidelines. Should a decision be taken at Ministerial level relating to the epidemiological situation, WIUT will comply with all requirements.
I hope this update is useful. I will continue to write to you throughout the year, providing updates and progress on the current epidemiological situation and on matters that concern your studies with us. Please keep in mind that we are here for you and we are all here for each other.
Please stay safe in these trying times.

Virus is spreading now among students. A few more cases confirmed among Level 5 students. I am afraid we may also have a few cases among Level 6 students. Please, be extra cautious! Remember, some of us live with parents and/or kids. You, not wearing the mask, not following the rules, not keeping the social distances, kissing and hugging one another, will be the one to blame if something happens in our families. So, please, feel the responsibility!

Dear Students,
Further to my last communication regarding the current mode of study at our University, I am contacting you again regarding the upcoming examination period and the associated challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis. This includes arrangements for the end of semester examinations.
We have been carefully monitoring the epidemiological situation over the past number of weeks. I again would like to commend WIUT’s staff dedication in ensuring students’ academic progress, fulfilling their duties even as they confronted unprecedented professional and personal challenges. Thank you for the trust you are placing in us to support you in your academic goals.
For this reason, we have made the decision to reschedule all end of semester (final) examinations to an online mode. Whilst we know this is disappointing, we hope you understand this is a necessary step to help keep each other safe in these unprecedented times. In cases of questions, sickness and social vulnerability, please contact your Course Leader immediately. A revised timetable for take home examinations will be circulated shortly to all students.
I hope this update is useful. Please keep in mind that we are here for you and we are all here for each other.
Best of luck in your examinations next week,
Bakhrom
